I and all Progressive Democrats must forgive their Repug enemies...
for both their reign of death and terror on the people of the world and their boundless addiction to greed.
In honor of the spirit of Heinrich Heine I make a call for nationwide forgiveness.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mine is a most peaceful disposition. My wishes are a humble cottage with a thatched roof, a good bed, good food, the freshest milk and butter, flowers before my window and a few pine trees before my door. And if God wants to make my happiness complete, he will grant me the joy of seeing some six or seven of my enemies hanging from those trees. Before their death I shall, moved in my heart, forgive them all the wrong they did me in my lifetime. One must, it is true, forgive one's enemies--but not before they have been hanged.
--Heinrich Heine (1797-1856)

9. Forgiveness
Forgiveness is good, but my forgiveness is perpetual because it is something that I do for myself so that I can get out of bed each day. Forgiveness also helps me to not become the very thing or person I despise; to not stoop to the level.

I have been forgiving all along. To forget is to not have learned a lesson.

2. Agreed & Well Said
There is an understandable desire to rub their noses in it ( I feel that way a bit too) and their are many on the side that did not prevail that are feeling pretty unhappy, but I don't believe that there is time for gloating. There is simply to much work to be done and we need all hands to do this.

4. How did "up against the wall with you" work out for the French?
Best check in with MLK, Ghandi, et. al. for a sense of balance...

12. How did...? Not qualified to be the arbiter I'll...
defer to you. I will venture a guess that MLK and Ghandi might have second thoughts
as to how well non violence worked out for them personally.

Why do you think they keep coming back. Why do you think they have been able to do so much damage and kill so many people and steal and stash away billions upon billions of dollars?

Simple, we refuse to treat them as the world criminals they are. Put them in prison where they belong! Forgiveness? I don't think so. They crossed over the line a long time ago and it is time they paid for their crimes.

If we forgive and let them walk, they will not go away and the world will keep suffering because of them.

8. Darn your voice of reason!
It complicates things but in the spirit of compromise
I'm okay with it providing it's on a trial basis.

consolation is to NEVER FORGET 2000, 911 and the recent near collapse of of modern society from which they profited
THERE IS NO END TO WHAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF.. NEVER FORGET

WE NEED TO CREATE CHILDREN'S STORIES ABOUT THEIR EVIL.. such as the Grimm Fairy tails to induce loathing of them at the earliest age possible so that we never forget.

this isn't over the ReThugs are planning to continue a TOTAL filibuster of every liberal proposition/bill it is a coup plain and simple, will the dempcrats contenue to bend over and give it up to them, or let them filibuster on an important bill the people will want. let them show the people who they are.. for months if necessary.. quit selling us out, democrats have not stood up to them

"snip... One of the subplots of the election this November that has been overshadowed by the presidential election is the short-term future of the filibuster. The formerly symbolic procedure that allows a bloc of 41 senators to block any piece of legislation has, over the last two years, become much more than just symbolic. The filibuster gained modern-era media attention when the Democrats attempted to use it to block the confirmation of Bush-nominated judges, an attempt that was ended by the bipartisan “Gang of Fourteen,” and has since become a common tactic to slow down a majority party. This term, the Republicans have used over 100 filibusters, and hundreds more “holds” (filibusters that aren’t supported by the whole party, and are often only supported by one person, but suffice to kill minor bills procedurally). ..."

14. Forgive? I'm sorry....some things are simply unforgivable.
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 08:29 AM by KzooDem
The masses of idiots who voted the Republicans in these past 8 years? Yeh, I can eventually forgive them because it's not their fault, I suppose, that they are that abjectly stupid.

But the ones who held the power these last 8 years? FORGIVE? You've got to be mad. If we still burnt people at the stake, I'd be far too happy to douse the pyre with lots and lots of lighter fluid and strike the match and watch the whole pathetic lying bunch go up in flames.

And the Republican supporters ought to be damned lucky we don't live in the latter part of 18th century France. Not only would we be coming after the rulers with pitchforks and guillotines, but we'd be coming after their followers as well.
