Pelosi: "“The country must be governed from the middle,”"
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/dems-lower-expectations-2008-11-05.html

Democratic leaders are tamping down on expectations for rapid change and trying to signal they will place a calm hand on the nation’s tiller.

“The country must be governed from the middle,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday. Repeating themes from election night, she said she plans to emphasize “civility” and “fiscal responsibility.”

I think we may be making progress with Pelosi. I really do.

THEN this country will be governed as the President sees fit, Ms. Nancy Marie.

GET OVER YOURSELF, woman! (sorry but I still cannot stand her).

I totally agree Nancy.
The middle of this country wants universal health coverage.

The middle wants tax relief for the middle class.

The middle wants us out of Iraq now.

The middle wants Bush et al puncished for their crimes.

PLEASE govern from the middle.

7. Bullshit, and here's why
Liberal values and programs in government HELP people. As in, tangible benefits that they can experience directly.

Better schools, better health care options, better jobs, better environment, better economy... when people are doing BETTER, they will see through the smoke-and-mirrors "Librul=Evil" bullshit.

People aren't stupid, as Tuesday proved. Show them that government from the left is better by making their lives better, and we win.

22. Bullshit, and *here's* why...
THIS is thee most tenuous time ever for the left. Mandate yes! Carte blanche? Not by any stretch of the imagination. If we the left (work with me here for a moment, as this will be pure poetics) move to legislate all dogs wear pink collars, or that kids have their own sections on airline flights showing Nick Toons & Dora the Explorer; we will forever be locked out of serious thinking on a national scale. We can think it as we always have...we'll just be no where near the levers of power for decades, if not generations to come.

"Better schools, better health care options, better jobs, better environment, better economy" are American ideals, neither side really should have a lock on them. Or a hindrance to them. I want what has come to be known as 'the right' taken out, I'll attenuate 'the left' just to prove a point; in the end I want America put back where she needs to be. Into the bed rock of American justice

9. If I hear one more person say this...
especially from the right, or the impotent left, I'm going to lose it. Shut your fucking yap, Nancy. Obama will govern in the manner we hired him to govern--which is probably from center left, but he doesn't need YOU to tell him that.

She is one of those in power. The Executive is one branch of three. I don't think we want to see a unitary Executive, ever, do we?

19. I don't think she's helping President Elect Obama. (Fun to write that!)
I think she's drawing a line in the sand and I hope PEO brushes it aside. The Democratic Party won big in the GE because of PEO NOT because of Nancy and her governing 'ability' of the House. I don't think her way of governance has pleased most of us.....hers isn't the only voice but I believe she thinks it is!

12. While I agree with the statement
The line of center has been pushed too far to the right and therefore needs to be pushed back towards the left in order for the center to be middle ground once again.

And a PS... Fuck You nancy!

21. It took four tries, but: "the middle of the political spectrum of the nation" is I think...
what she meant, yes. Which to me suggests a state of balance; no more wide, violent swings to either side

16. From the middle?
As defined by whom? The fascists we just kicked out of office? Because most of the country is in favor of getting the hell out of Iraq and Afghanistan, making health care affordable and available, and a host of other things that would horrify all the "decent" people who host the cocktail parties and interview folks on the teevee.

In 2006 we the people spoke, Nancy. In 2008 we shouted. Are you listening?

of the Democratic party in Congress. She is reactive, even when being pro-active. We can do better.

her constitutional DUTIES telling him how to govern.

Sit down and shut up, Nancy.
