IMPORTANT-All Ga. voters or if you know a Ga. voter!!!!!

Tuesday voters in the United States made history. We elected the first African American President of these United States! Whether you supported Senator Obama or Senator McCain, you have every reason to be proud of what was accomplished. Those who supported Senator McCain should find comfort and security in the kind and inclusive tone of President-Elect Obama's acceptance speech. As well, those of you rejoicing in the remarkable success of Senator Obama may have a newfound respect for Senator McCain from his concession remarks.

This historical election marks the beginning of a long path to change. From two wars, to health care, to the environment, to social justice, after January 20th, President Obama will require our support and attention to assure that all Americans are represented as change comes.

But, before we can embark on this challenging path, Georgians have one more task to complete. As you likely know by now, three Georgia races were indecisive. On December 2nd all Georgians will have the opportunity (some might say, the responsibility) to cast a vote for their choice to represent Georgia in the United States Senate, on District 4 Public Service Commission, and in the Georgia Court of Appeals. Incumbent Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss and Democrat Jim Martin will be on the ballot for Senator. Democrat Jim Powell and Republican Bubba “Lauren” McDonald will be on the ballot for District 4 Public Service Commission. Sara Doyle and Mike Sheffield will be on the ballot for Court of Appeals.

We encourage you to immediately download an Absentee Ballot application from Don't Wait in '08 and mail or fax it in pronto! This action will allow you to avoid any inconvenience going to the polls on December 2nd may present. Download the form here (PDF file). This form is two pages, but it is not necessary to print or return the second page for the form to be processed. Submit the form to your local Election Board, find contact information for all counties here.

Please, take the time now to download, complete and submit this form. Then, when your ballot arrives in the mail take the time to VOTE! All these candidates have worked tirelessly for the opportunity to serve.

Thank you and congratulations for being a part of history!

C-
Catherine Smith
