If the Democrats cannot sell a "mandate" after this election...?
Then we have not made as much progress as we would think. Nancy Pelosi is talking about governing from the "center" but she doesn't say what that center is? The people knew what they were voting for when they voted for Obama. He said exactly what he would do and not do.

He wants to get us out of Iraq. He wants healthcare for all our people. He wants a more fair tax system with higher rates on those that have profited from the theft of the last eight years. He wants more education opportunities for our young people. He wants a more transparent government. That is the "center". That is the mandate that we gave Barack Obama and the Democratic Party. That is what we have to fight for. It is not that complicated, Nancy...

1. Why does anyone need to sell a mandate? Just frigging do it.
Although that wil be tough given the number of "democrats" who are way right of center and/or who are champions of the status quo.

2. mandate schmandate
Its a word

It means nothing

Changes will be made; they will in many cases require votes. They should be pursued vigorously, regardless of whether that word is applied to this election or not.

Quibbling over that is just being distracted by yet another shiny object.

3. Because some are trying to sell that there is no mandate.
Just like during the campaign, we have to respond. The wishes of the people cannot be ignored.

4. no we don't
there is nothing - NOTHING - that changes whether it is a "mandate" or not. The wishes of the people will be implemented through the legislative process. This is like arguing how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.
