Some commentary from some Brits on another board about Obama
Re: What do you guys in the UK think / hope will happen after our (US) election?

I'm so happy right now, I'm crying. The sight of so many Americans of all colors and creeds gathered together in Times Square, outside of the White House, in Chicago, what this means for the world and for our country, it's just stunning. I can hardly believe it.

Tony, I honestly do believe that the 04 election was stolen and I also believe that Obama will need a lot of help in his leadership of this country. He will have good people around him and I feel he has the cool headed temperment to deal with what comes our way in this nation and the world. I've never not been proud to be an American, but this makes me even more proud.

I know the Founders are watching with pride to see what their Declaration of Independence has wrought and given us and the world.

I also have to say that McCaine is a good man and he did what he thought was right. If he had been the true maverick of the 2000 campaign, he would have had to win this election. He is a smart man and he has a good heart. He was done in by his choice or running mate and other things but he gave a beautifully gracious speech and I know that he and President Obama can work together to help and guide this nation.

As a Brit who knows nothing of world politics, I just have to say how ecstatic I am that Barack Obama is the new US President.

I genuinely like the guy, he's brilliant.

Based purely on the kind of man he seems to be, which I know is no way to pick a politician, I completely agree with you, V.

I've never in my life cried during a President-elect victory speech...let alone rewind to watch and cry all over again!!!!

"It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America."

Good lord...what an historic day.

I am absolutely thrilled that Obama has won and it quite literally brought tears to my eyes to see the celebrations- I don't think I've ever seen anything like it in my life!

ETA I just heard his speech- and the tears are rolling down my face Yay! Yay!

Just so so happy at this result. Congratulations to all!

Me Shelley - and all who posted after - so good it deserves to be repeated again and again.

I don't think I've ever felt this sort of hope after an election - especially an election in another country Haha!

They played Obama's speech in full on the Today prog on Radio 4 this morning and I had tears pouring down my face as I drove along the M4!

I don't think Gordon Brown or David Cameron could inspire that sort of soaring emotion in their listeners.

Let's just hope Obama really *is* another Clinton (minus the cigars Haha!) because, whatever his faults, at least the rest of the world felt safe when he was in power - something we haven't felt for the last 8 years with Dubya.

Time will undoubtedly tell but, in the meantime, I'll just bask in the feeling of hope he's inspired in jaded, cynical old me.

Congratulations to Obama on his win, I suspect the celebrations will go on for some time Glug glug... He seems like a really decent and honest man and I wish him and the people of the U.S all the very best for the future Smiley

Obama's speech was amazing. I'm not American but damn, I felt proud to be on the planet at the same time as this! McCain's concession speech I thought was very gracious and I hope everyone will co-operate as much as he said. Got respect for both candidates but I'm very glad Obama won. Smiley

3. It's worse than that
He adopts puppies, breeds them, and then eats their puppies while sipping on a nice chianti.

And I heard he denies them medical care if they don't die while he's eating them.

Bastard.
