8. Obama intends to get things done quickly and efficiently. Rahm is the perfect person to help him |

do that. He knows the White House and Congress. A Bad cop to Obama's good cop PLUS an enforcer with Democrats, not just Republicans.
Obama will set the tone and make the decisions. People don't need to worry about that.
In order change things, Obama has to get his legislation through Congress. You need to have people who know and can work the legislative levers or else there wont be any real "change". This isn't fantasy land and Obama is not naive.

9. I am very impressed by Obama's choice. Good fit. Time to get things done, like NOW. |
|
I do feel there needs to be healing done with Dr. Dean. He was relentless with him (f-bombs). He was scared about money. He owes Dean an apology. Dean was right and came through beautifully with his 50 state strategy ! Emanual is also right in that it takes money to fight the GOP and they traditionally had power from their financial advantage. NOT THIS TIME !!!
Clinton said that Emanual is one of the best political minds in Washington. Obama surrounds himself with the best and brightest. He is making a sacrifice to give up on the Speaker of the House, and move his family out of Chicago. The position is a grueling one that will demand so much. He has put out a radical plan in the book he co-authored, and he is a fierce advocate for Obama. Good guy to have on your side to push through what you want done. He is a "can do" person. He may need to grow up emotionally and learn some grace when he has a goal and wants his way and thinks he is right. He does not have to destroy his opponent, especially, people who are on his own side, like Howard Dean. That said, the GOP is shaking in their boots now. Emanual is a formidable opponent. I am sure Obama has thrown them off their game with this. The GOP just can not put Obama in a box, they can not figure out who they are dealing with. For me, I just keep being incredibly impressed and in awe of President-Elect Obama. Hes got game !

11. Well, I'm glad that he won't be appointed to Obama's Senate seat |
|
And that a seat in the House will might now have someone a bit more progressive and less hawkish appointed to it. Beyond that, I can't say I know enough about Emanual to make a qualified judgement about how he'll perform has Chief of Staff.

15. A moderate Democrat appoints a moderate Democrat. Water is wet. |
|
I would have been (pleasantly) shocked if he'd appointed a liberal.
