Boehner criticizes Emmanuel pick as Chief of Staff....
Heard on MSNBC earlier. Boehner says that Emmanuel is a poor choice to show that Obama wants to work across the aisle. I suspect there was some politicking involved in the pick. By choosing Emmanuel, it frees up the Senate seat in Illinois for Jesse Jackson, Jr. If Emmanuel had gone for the Senate seat, instead of Chief of Staff, it could have created an uncomfortable situation within the Party.

The Republicans believe Emmanuel is too "partisan". They say he drops the "F" bomb all the time. He is one of those hardcore Chicago politicians that loves to play hardball politics. And the Chief of Staff determines who gets thru the door to see the President. It is a powerful position.

15. Tough shit, Boehner. You don't get to decide diddly about who President Obama wants
in his office, Cabinet, or administration. You're a minority now, Boner!

16. Rahm actually dropped the "McCain is the typical grumpy old guy
in the bathrobe & slippers chasing kids off his lawn" bomb on the Tweety show a couple of weeks ago!! He gained points in my book for that level of candor...

The Chief of Staff role requires someone with a pretty hardcore personality...I'm willing to accept it, knowing that Obama has enough of a spine to not simply roll over on every policy opinion Rahm offer up.

17. Emmanuel is an excellent choice.
We need someone to play a little hardball. In any case, my feeling is Obama will need Emmanuel's methods. Who cares what Boehner thinks? President elect Obama is brilliant in his COS pick.

20. Oh cry me a river. Bonerman, STFU. You don't get a say in this. A President gets to pick his own
chief of staff. No approval necessary by anyone in the legislature, particularly the MINORITY leader. STFU already.
