Lieberman faces Censure by CT Democratic Party
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 03:03 PM by brooklynite
from the Hartford Courant:

CT Dems' Lieberman resolution: "extraordinary disloyalty" means he must resign from party

Connecticut Democrats fed up with Sen. Joe Lieberman are eagerly waiting to hear what happens in Washington, but their own censure resolution now pending before the state central committee is pretty clear about what should be done.

Lieberman's "extraordinary disloyalty" means he should resign from the party. Lieberman's "support of right-wing candidates cannot be reconciled with the ideals and values of the Democratic Party,'' the resolution states.

...snip...

The resolution has attracted the support of dozens of party activists. Local town committees are now considering the proposal and the Democratic State Central Committee could vote on it on Dec. 17.

3. I thought he already resigned from the Dem. Party. He is an Independent, correct?

10. S'alright
It's weaselly, but it won't do him any good.

And because he had to resign from his own party to become a Dem, the Connecticut For Lieberman party has been hijacked and is now a vehicle for ousting Joe from Washington. That's right, the party that bears his name is now a party of his enemies.

13. From what I understand...
The "Connecticut for Lieberman party" never was a pro-lieberman party, but instead a tongue-in-cheek jab at him

20. It was created by supporters
to back Joe in case he lost the primary. He was the CFL candidate on the November ballot.

22. LIEberman formed the party but didn't create rules and register them
with the State. John Orman noticed that and took over the party electing himself chairman

I got stuck at work and missed our Dem Town Comm meeting last week so I don't know if they voted on this censure. I sure won't miss November's meeting

9. Lieberman is -- as a voter -- a registered Democrat
and presumably maintains political links to the State Democratic Party. He is an Independent as an elected Senator, but didn't need to change his own status to "accept" the Connecticut for Lieberman nomination.

7. He already resigned. This is the dumbest thing I've heard so far today.
If starting a new Party and RUNNING AGAINST A CONNECTICUT DEM
doesn't constitute "resigning", then nothing does.

14. He needs to be outed as an agent of a foreign country
and thrown out of the country.

His agitation for an attack on Iran for the sole benefit of Israel
at a tremendous cost of US lives and wealth is unconscionable

16. Can the CT voters recall him in the next election? What are the rules?
He certainly does not represent the majority of his constituency, and he is manifestly a deceitful egomaniac with dangerous political views.

17. nope
he can be expelled from the senate by a 2/3 vote (i think 2/3) but that's it.
CT is stuck with him until 2012 unless he resigns.

whether it be Democrat, Republican, or Independent... Joe Lieberman has loyalties to no one but Joe Lieberman.

21. Kick him out of the party. The DLC aren't Republican-lite they are Republicans
When Lieberman ran as an independent the Repubs pulled their funding from their named candidate. What else do you need to know? We're a big tent party but that doesn't include lying fink weasel traitors.
