1. He pretty much put in his two weeks notice 9 months ago.
Bush is the lamest of ducks. And I do mean lame.

2. If only...
...but I'm sure he'll stay around long enough to try and sneak through a few deregulations and pardons for his friends.

He was given keys to a suite of offices for his transition team
I believe that those offices are in the Old Executive Office Building.

As his staff takes shape, there are briefings and documents to transition from the Bush admin to the new admin.

However, until Obama is sworn in, he has very little actual power.

Most agencies (the permanent civil servants) are loathe to undertake any new direction from the current political appointees that run them for the next few months.

3. I don't think this is uncommon
There is an awful lot to do between now and Jan 20 to insure that the new CIC is briefed on everything. Obama needs to have his staff and Cabinet ready to go.

And for what it's worth, if the Bush Administration is being cooperative then all the better.

4. I have a feeling that more is going on behind the scenes then we the people
will ever be aware of, I recall President Obama stating a few weeks ago in one of his speeches that those in power will not give up that power so easily..he is aware of them thankfully but I for one am not seeing this easy transition they speak of..

I believe threats will be coming into play, a kind of behind the door secret meeting that reeks of The wizards first appearance in the wizard of Oz...

I just never thought nor do I still believed GB to ever have the intelligence and or power one needed to ensure the crimes he committed remained free of prosecution, there are others, much more powerful, much more dangerous and much more intelligent behind the scenes..

Like he said himself, they will not give up easily, consider how many remained following behind on that tight leash this administration used for so many in positions of power, I always likened them to dogs being led around unwilling, many being pulled along regardless if they walked or were dragged..who had that kind of power then to instill such fear? And do any of us honestly believe that power is now simply obsolete?

6. We always have transition teams
I suspect though that Obama's will be essentially in charge in more active ways than previous presidents

8. While everyone spends time talking about Bush, everyone should be talking Cheney.
Where is he and what are his transition plans to turn over the Presidency. He is and has been the President. I don't think he wants this to end. There were too many goals not reached. There is too much to cover up. Why isn't everyone talking Cheney? See how effective he has been leading, but not appearing? People just brush past him and don't even recognize his accomplishments as viewed from their side). Nor do they want to talk about him.

13. Cheney?
They've already shipped the Cheney animatronics figure to Disney World, where a new exhibit is slated to open on January 23rd. Cheney's automaton has just been on loan from Disney for the last two years.

I hope that clears things up. Cheney was in charge until he died in 2006. Bush missed him, though, so they had Disney make up a replacement.

17. cheney? he's probably holed up in his vault with a shotgun
pointed at the door--just waiting for biden's transition team to come a-knocking.

the only thing that will entice him to come out is the prospect of a new, velvet-lined coffin!

here you go, dick!

9. There's always a transition
The new administration always needs time to get up to speed. I think the keys you're referring to are to the transition team's WH office.

10. Not yet, the time is not right....
Bush still has to hatch his last and greatest plot. Once he upper decks the White House toilets, he'll be on his way to Texas for a little R&R.

11. His last and greatest plot will be pardons.

Pardons for his staff.

Pardons for Wall Street.

Pardons for Gitmo, et al torturers.

19. Peaceful transfer of power was the buzz phrase in 2000.
I can't recall if the media talking heads used it before that.

15. umm
Jan 20 is when President-Elect Obama takes on the Official powers of the Presidency.
Until then the Constitution clearly states there is only one acting President.

18. Obama should tell * to vacate the White House, and just take a 2-month vacation at his Texas ranch
That shouldn't be too much to ask, should it? The war criminal has spent much of his presidency on vacation anyways.
