It'll lose us somebody out of our caucus, we won't be any closer to 60 seats, but I'd rather see him go than to horde his position over us that way. No more catering to that guy, we're going in a new direction and if he doesn't want to be a part of it, well good luck to him, but the problems of this country are more important than Joe Lieberman's little power trip games.

1. He's much more of a problem critisizing Obama from the platform of a Dem Chairman

Reid needs to cut this guy off at the knees.

2. You know, it's not even vindictiveness
I don't care about revenge or anything like that. It's that Lieberman is hurting our country and his radical vision of foreign policy has gotten and is getting good American's maimed and killed for no reason. Not to mention all of the innocent Iraqis.

6. For me it's not about revenge - it's simply not workable. Harry should have
dealt with this in no uncertain terms today.

9. And since he LOST the DEMOCRATIC
primary in his state, that's just not fair to real Democrats. Get him out of there.

3. Of all of Lieberman's sins against the Ds, it's his whining that I hate most.
That's a sin against humanity.

4. He won't count towards the 60 no matter what
The 60 seats has to do with cloture votes. It isn't like the 51, where the leadership and chairmanships are determined. Even having 60 seats doesn't guarantee that every Democratic senator would vote with us in any cloture vote. I seem to recall that Joe Lieberman has sided with the Republicans in most cloture votes in the last congress anyway. What I don't understand is why the MSM keeps including him with the Democrats, since it is all but guaranteed that he not on our side anymore.

5. good info to know
Well they include him because he caucuses with them and would attend leadership meeting until recently. But he's been effectively gone for a years now. He's ok on some bread and butter type issues but he capitulates or straight joins the GOP when it hurts us the most.

7. I doubt we could count on him for 60, anyway
The #51 was important because it got us committee chairmanships. That's no longer relevant. A vote is a vote, and if we can't count on his, it doesn't matter what he calls himself.

8. I'd rather have some moderate republicans vote with us
than this Benedict Arnold. If he had been upfront and did what he did it would be one thing, but he was basically doing what he did to try for the VP position under mccain. He is slime and I don't want to hear about him anymore. :puke:

10. If he is not #60 or #50 he has no power at all.
I have no idea why there is even any debate over Lieberman's future. His vote is not needed. Even if Stevens and Coleman go down, he still isn't needed. As long as that is true, Joe has to go. He will lose his chair. He has to lose his chair: there is a loyal Democratic Party senator waiting in line for the next available chair, that senator must not be punished for his loyalty by allowing Lieberman to stay.

15. His not-really-a-dem -but-willing-to-be-courted stance gives him way too much power
he should just be out.
