Icing On The Cake? How Soon Before The Country Reassesses Reagan?
How soon before the country realizes that the shit we're in now is a direct result of Reaganism?

Answer: not soon enough.

1. Don't hold your breath
That myth is so firmly ingrained now that it will be a while -- it will come, but not right now.

3. Agreed...but even Custer's mythical image as a hero was eventually
yanked into the corridors of reality.

13. And maybe 100 years from now, people will correctly assess Reagan's damage to the country

2. I've known it
for a long time...lived through every horrifying moment, including a stretch of homelessness due to that buzzard. It's time for the rest of the country to stop the damned idol worship of his stinking corpse. x(

5. As soon as we wipe out the Federalist Society's influence in law schools.
And the "Chicago School" from our economy.

6. It will take ages...
I think all the idiots who think Reagan was a "great President" need to die first.

8. My dad...
... for many years a member of his union's executive committee, made this comment while we watched the returns during the 1980 election (I was 13 years old at the time): "This is a goddammed disaster!"

9. 90% of them don't even know why they love Reagan.
And the rest have romanticized him beyond recognition. Iran-Contra, union-busting, de-regulation, and making mental patients homeless — that's who Reagan was.

After Reagan died I listened to a call in show on the radio asking for audience eulogies. Almost every caller said he should burn in hell.

11. Get serious.
Reagan worship has never been rational. Add to that the fact that Reagan worshipers blame everything, including bad weather, on Clinton. Reality poses no risk to Reagan's legacy.

and Poppy's too..

Step two- release them to the press..

This is a two-fer... the pres will fall on them like starved wolverines, and will take a little of the pressure off Obama as he starts his term, and it will provide a steady drip drip drip of information related to the problems we have right now, and the bread crumbs lead directly to Reaganism..

16. I was just a kid while Reagan was in office.
My parents liked him and voted for him so I thought he was a good president. It wasn't until I saw the harsh realities of life did I realize Reagan was wrong. Unfortunately, freepers and the like don't understand trickle-down economics, or a least they think something will trickle down on them. The fact that never happens seems to be lost on them. Anyone who has been paying attention for the past couple of decades should be able to recognize the Enron's, AIG's, and overall corporate culture in this country is a direct result of Reagan. He and the ReThugs managed to bring back the robber barons from the turn of the 19th century. It is going to take another generation, and possibly a depression, to put that genie back in the bottle.

I just hope everyone learned a lesson: The Rethugs are only interested in exploiting people and resources for their own personal gain. They do not play nice.
