The Republicans become a marginal party. |
|
In this Presidential race, Democrats have swept the Northeast, the Mid-Atlantic, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, the Great Lake states, the upper Mississippi, the far West, Hawaii, Colorado and New Mexico.
We've gained seats in the House and Senate, as well as Governorships and local state races.
Bushco has been repudiated and McCain has aided and abetted the decimation of their party.
There are obvious echoes of Goldwater's loss, but in this instance the primary players, McCain and Palin, were much worse. Barry Goldwater lost on the issues - McCain lost on a broad lack of real positions outside of simplistic talking points, an erratic campaign, and a VP candidate that went shopping, for crying out loud.
Epic fail.
I welcome the demise of the Republican right. Should their party take a long step back and look at their role in national politics, I'd welcome them back to the debate. But for now, they can return to their extremist rants.
Governing was never their strong point. It's on the record.

3. What does happen to them.. I don't think they are ever going to be a majore party again. |

I would assume a lot of moderate Pugs are going to come into the Dem party and eventually that will become corrupted.. well, there are aspects in the party that are already like this.. I'm thinking this is the best time to create a merge between Progressive and Green.. since this is the future. People, in general, don't like others to suffer. Fear is not something people want saddled around their necks.. and with the internet and other technologies.. people suffering on the other side of the world are just one click away... one image, sound bite, or video from entering our view. I think Republicans are obsolete.. and the country that operates on a two-party system must have two parties so that a party does not subvert the constitution. Barack likes to think in terms of what is right, what is smart, and what is the best thing for all of America.. Other's in the future may just be a wild idealogue and you end up with what happened to the Republican party.. they were in charge, no one to refute them, and their strong idealogy, unchecked, does not work.

4. I think Democrats have a window of opportunity, just now. |
|
Obama is a cool customer, his team has built a big national base. Dean, another smart guy, if not so cool, has done likewise with the DNC's 50-state strategy.
I think these two "resources" are key to real change, and a bigger voice in policy decisions.
