Las Vegas Sands Plunges on Default, Bankruptcy Risk
Not that there was much doubt, but we are truly in the crapper now! What with Disneyland in the dumps and now this, bend over, grab your ass, and kiss it goodbye.

Las Vegas Strip casino gambling revenue slid 6.7 percent this year through August, on track for its biggest annual decline on record, as airlines cut back capacity and consumers, battling declining home values, job losses and the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, spent less.

1. Best part is, if this town falls apart I'll probably die.
I'm dependent on my wife's job (which also used to be MY job but they shitcanned me when I couldn't come back after short-term disability ran out) and her insurance. I've got at least a year of hard work ahead of me before I can really hope to survive for long if she loses her job. I can go live with my mother-in-law in Florida, but she can't pay my medical bills.

Glory fucking hallelujah.

3. COBRA only runs for 18 months. And most COBRAs cost double to triple
what the same insurance cost when the person was employed.

5. And since just over $160.00 comes out of my wife's $11-and-change-per-hour pay
every TWO WEEKS, I think it's easy to see how even with the insurance we're barely surviving. I don't even bother to add up the untouchable copay statements from all my doctors and hospitals anymore, but I believe it would total a good $5k or more at this point.

It's more like I feel like there's a big COBRA hanging off my ass. :grr::nuke::grr:

7. Yep..COBRA is a big ole nasty joke
Someone loses a job, and at the very time they have the LEAST ability to pay for it, the cost is triple..

Back when we had to use COBRA, it cost us $738 a month..(1995-97)

but we HAD to do it because of a child with a pre-existing medical condition and another who played contact sports..
