Bush Insider: US Must Export "hope & optimism" Again, not "fear & anger" - Bush History, 11/7
On this date, elections in 2000 (remember Kathleen Harris), and 2006 (wherein the US starts to right itself). Also, a Bush insider testifies on this date that the US must return to exporting "hope and optimism" to the world over "fear and anger". And wise words from Ben and MLK, in addition to dumb words from GWB.

If you ever want to see prosperity in this country again then you had better take measures that will cause us to make what the world needs.

Your post gave me pause actually. Yes products are important, but listening to the world's reaction to Obama's victory, it is as clear as it ever was that the world looks to the US for leadership, values, decency, principled behavior. For the last 8 years we have let the world down. This is why Obama's victory is so celebrated around the globe. It was encouraging in Obama's first sentence after victory he referenced the values of the founders, because it is those values that so many admire, and it is those values that the Bush admin tried to throw in the trash.

I think the world missed the USA. They were a little heart-broken. Now, after 8 years away, the friend they knew some years ago is coming back.
