It's not over until Rove & Co. are in jail
A funny thing happened on the way to a McCain "victory" in Ohio and other states.

Karl Rove's computer guru got hauled into court the day before election day and was ordered to testify about what he did during the 2004 vote count in Ohio.

The Republican IT guru, recently described as a "high tech Forrest Gump" for his proclivity to be "at the scene" of so many troubling elections since 2000, and even at the heart of the "lost" White House email scandal, has been ordered by a federal judge to appear for an under-oath deposition next Monday in Ohio.

The BRAD BLOG has learned that Mike Connell, the Republican IT guru whose company, GovTech Solutions, created Ohio's 2004 election results computer network appeared in federal court today, as compelled, and has been ordered to appear for his deposition on Monday, November 3, just 24 hours before Election Day 2008.

1. Rove threatened his wife to be prosecuted? OMG K&R
We have been confidentially informed by a source we believe to be credible that Karl Rove has threatened Michael Connell, a principal witness we have identified in our King Lincoln case in federal court in Columbus, Ohio, that if he does not agree to 'take the fall' for election fraud in Ohio, his wife Heather will be prosecuted for supposed lobby law violations."

3. How will Rove do that?
The Clean up people will be moving through DOJ? I hope Dems don't touch Rove until after January 20th 2009. He must not be given the chance to be pardoned.

16. I thought of the same thing.
And this patience applies to pursuing all of these criminals. If there is a criminal process against them in any way/shape/form, then they can be pardoned. If we wait for Obama to move ahead aggressively, then they have no back door like Libby did.

I'd like to make a (dis)honorable mention to the pursuit of Tom Delay, as well.

2. Gotta Hold The Powder Til After January 20th...
Damn I hate thinking that, but be assured that this regime's pardon list is long and we don't need to make it any longer if we can. I won't feel comfortable until this regime is evicted from the White House and not able to give their toadies cover any longer.

Rover's been fun to watch...his stint as a "pundit" showed how he both ruined his party and now is trying to escape from it. It had to be painful to see all those slime attacked launched by his acolytes not have much effect. It had to be a real pain not to be able to go after Hillary...but, he could steer clear of this clusterfuck. When I saw him defend President Obama against Hannity the other night, I think that was his jump the shark moment...maybe even a tinge of Atwater sneaking through...that his type of slash & burn politics aren't working anymore.

He also knows he's on borrowed time...his shield and get out of jail card expires on January 20th and his name will be in the middle of a lot of future litigation. He still has a date to "chat" with Senator Leahy...and sooner rather than later. Seems like he's trying to "make nice" as one more vain tactic to keep his sorry ass out of that orange jump suit we all are eager to see him wear.

7. We Still Have No Clue How Bad Things Are...
Welcome to DU...

Most of what we've learned of this regime's criminality has come from its hubris and stupidity. For every one crime that's been exposed, you know there has to be a lot more under the surface. I think there needs to be an Independent Prosecutor appointed to handle a lot of the existing investigations and to have the power to prosecute others.

Cheers...

13. Leahy's List Is Long...Waxman's Is Longer...
With more Democrats comes a vote of confidence in what these men can and will do.

I've heard Leahy say several times in recent months he's not gonna let the pending investigations in front of his committee drop and he's got a bunch of scores to settle here...he's in a far stronger position to get people to testify...if anything, we may see the floodgates open.

Last thing is the importance of a restored and independent Department of Justice. No longer will we have an obstructionist AG who wouldn't investigate...or a compromised department loaded with political cronies. I see this department coming back strong...and leading the charge in cleaning up a lot of these messes.

Cheers...

15. I See The DOJ Scandal Heating Up Early On
This one's been on the burner the longest and with the shield of Executive privilidge and the threat of pardons being removed, it'll be interesting to see how many people now recall what they forgot in the past. The IG report all but begs to push forward...thus why I'm calling for an Independent Prosecutor to handle this and many other cases.

Here's hoping you have to split time between C-SPAN and True TV...who knows, maybe C-SPAN will have to start a channel just to air all the trials.

5. Interesting. I wonder if Corker, Republicon TN Senator from Chattanooga
Had anything to do with this? Seems he beat Ford after he got a money infusion from the RNC. Was it time to pay back the conspirators?

"Newly obtained computer schematics provide further detail of how electronic voting data was routed during the 2004 election from Ohio's Secretary of State's office through a partisan Tennessee web hosting company. ... The flow chart shows how voting information was transferred from Ohio to SmarTech Inc., a Chattanooga Tennessee IT company known for its close association with the Republican Party, before the 2004 election results were displayed online."

19. Update
http://thejournal.epluribusmedia.net/index.php/state-news/ohio-news/208-mike-connell-qno-magic-bulletq-for-2004-or-2008-elections-attorney-says
<snip>
The first question Judge Oliver was concerned about was Mr. Arnebeck's contention that Karl Rove had threatened Mr. Connell and his wife with prosecution, from which Rove allegedly said there would be no pardon, if Mr. Rove was implicated in the theft of the 2004 election or other corrupt political activities over the last eight years. Mr. Arnebeck has asked the US Dept. of Justice to retain certain documents related to Rove, as part of the intention to charge him under Ohio's corrupt practices act. Rove has used executive privilege to avoid testifying to Congress. Mr. Arnebeck said that tactic wouldn't work in Ohio.

His second question was about Mr. Connell's role in the design and management of the Ohio computer system for administering elections, and, as Arnebeck believes, whether any "Trojan" piece of software exists, such that it could give a key "inside track" to some one unauthorized to access the system.

Oliver's third question was about other states, and whether the pattern of manipulation known as "Man in the Middle," involving strategic placement of one computer so it controls all others, is, as Arnebeck believes, extant today in Ohio or New Mexico or Colorado, as he speculates it was in Ohio in 2004 and 2006.

"We believe there's an ongoing conspiracy. It exists today, it's in play today. And that's what we're seeking to discover, relevant information to that as it applies to the current threat to the integrity of the 2008 elections," Mr. Arnebeck said to Judge Oliver.

The fourth question Judge Oliver focused on related to Triad, the technology company that now contracts with 55 of Ohio's 88 Ohio boards of elections for services related to the management of voter registration databases that are hosted on company servers. Mr. Arnebeck believes Mr. Connell knows information about Triad because of his work with Ohio in 2004 and 2006.

34. So lets put it back on the table!!!
We don't need Pelosi or the complicit Democrats.
We can PRIVATIZE the prosecution of Bush and the War Criminals!

I will donate $500 to ANY organization that will place a Bounty on Bush/Cheney to be paid to anyone who provides concrete evidence that leads to their indictment or arrest.

A small, transparent trust located in a neutral country like Switzerland could administer the fund. If the BOUNTY is promoted internationally, it would quickly grow to Mega-Millions.

The fund would also be tasked with running full page Wanted For War Crimes ads in major Global newspapers every 3 months until the Bounty is awarded or depleted.

I believe that such a fund would be wildly popular worldwide, and provide the administrators an opportunity to make a little money.
I have neither the resources or skills to institute such a fund, but like I said above, I am willing to donate $500. I also believe that there are at least a million more worldwide (extreme minimum) who would also be willing to donate....that adds up to some serious money.

Wanted
for
WAR CRIMES

A $500 Million Dollar Reward will be paid to any individual, organization, or country that provides concrete information leading to the arrest, or the issuance of an Internal Arrest Warrant for War Crimes committed by George Bush, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, or Donald Rumsfeld.

It is clear that the Opposition Party (Democratic Party) and the US Justice Department will do NOTHING to hold the criminals accountable.
A private organization representing Citizens of the World would have better results.
After observing the response to Michele Bachmann's appearance on MSNBC, I have no doubt that such a fund a HUGE success.

Even if Bush/Cheney are never arrested, a Mega-Million Dollar International Bounty would certainly keep them looking over their shoulders, curtail retirement travel plans, AND serve as a warning to future "Unitary Executives".

It would also put a nice ribbon around the Bush Legacy.

24. The gig is up!
Bush won Ohio by 188,601 votes, a thin margin some say was the result of illegal election tampering work ordered by Karl Rove, President Bush's long time friend and top political adviser.

http://thejournal.epluribusmedia.net/index.php/state-news/ohio-news/208-mike-connell-qno-magic-bulletq-for-2004-or-2008-elections-attorney-says

The silver lining to all of this is that Connell and his handlers know that their gig is up. They should not believe for a minute that Connell’s two hour performance yesterday will do anything to slow down our investigation. Once the dust clears from today’s election, the attorneys will go full force to charge Connell and others with Racketeering and Corrupt Practices.

http://www.velvetrevolution.us/#110508

Mr. Ervin argued. His was an unsuccessful attempt to quash Arnebeck's subpoena compelling Connell to answer questions central to what he knew about the election of 2004, and his work for then Republican-Secretary of State in Ohio Ken Blackwell, and if any such device designed to compromise elections is at play in this year's race for the White House in Ohio or elsewhere.

http://thejournal.epluribusmedia.net/index.php/state-news/ohio-news/208-mike-connell-qno-magic-bulletq-for-2004-or-2008-elections-attorney-says

And guess what happened? Connell suddenly changed his tune. Connell said that to his knowledge there would be no tabulation manipulations of Tuesday’s election. And something else, Karl Rove wrote on his blog late Monday that Obama would win by a landslide even in those states he had previously predicted McCain would win.

39. Bush can only pardon Rove for federal crimes. It Ohio charges him after January
the Bush DOJ can not even step in to try to take over the case to make it federal so that Bush can then pardon him. Ken Blackwell might roll over and name Rove to save himself. The folks in Ohio might be willing to cut Blackwell, the local, a deal if it would allow them to prosecute Rove. I expect Bush to issue a blanket pardon for Rove, Blackwell and all the rest for federal crimes, but that will not stop Ohio....

40. but wait...there's more...
"a lot of people also feel like dancing in the streets because this presidential contest wasn't stolen. The millions who went out and voted early, and the millions more who voted absentee, were mostly hoping that such measures might prevent the GOP from disappearing their votes on Election Day. The fear of yet another grand theft also drove a massive push to monitor the polls, with many groups and countless
voters watching with unprecedented vigilance. And now the media too (at last) reported on the vote suppression methods of the GOP, with CNN and others taking note of the defunct machines, the too-long lines, the sly strokes to intimidate or disinform.

"All such preventive steps, and the gigantic turnout, have made Barack Obama our next president. (And there was, as well, Karl Rove's abrupt decision not to try to rig the outcome: a reversal that he signaled Monday evening, when he suddenly foretold "an electoral landslide" for Obama--just hours after Mike Connell, his longtime IT fixer, had been forced to answer questions, under oath, in an Ohio courtroom.) It is indeed a heady moment, and we have surely earned the right to savor it, and feel the novel joy of having all been spared--of having spared ourselves--the horrible alternative.
