New Puppy = Obama Keeps his first Campaign Promise.

When Mr President Obama, (god that sounds great) made his acceptance speech, I cheered the line about loving his children more than they could know and that they had earned their new dog.

It was only a day later that I realized what I liked about that line.

Obama just kept his first Campaign Promise and he has only been confirmed and is still 75 days away from inauguration.

18. Hahahah.... just heard the interview with the Reuters reporter
Was listening to POTUS 08 - they're going to be keeping the channel going until the inauguration, which will be cool...

I could tell the reporter thought the fuss made over it was ridiculous -- he went to an office asking for a bandaid and ended up being treated by Bush's private doctor, given antibiotics and a tetanus shot.

Talk about being afraid of a lawsuit.... the bite was just on his index finger!

15. I have a foster pittie he could have had
his name's JD, though. He might answer to Lipstick, he answers to damn near anything, as long as he's getting attention hehehehe. Cute little mahogany brindle fella. He sits and waits for his food until you say "OK!" He'd make a good First Dog... :)

8. The Obama's are getting a Labradoodle
from a rescue. This is great. Not to be bitchy towards anyone, but they are not called pounds anymore. They are called animal shelters. The word pound is negative in most people's minds so that is why the name change. The shelters need all the positive press that is possible.

10. I knew they would go for a rescue dog. I am partial to labs (we have 2 chocolates) - labradoodle
is a great dog, though. Yippee!

13. I wanted them to get a pug, but they aren't hypo-alergenic and also most pugs can't fly in Airplanes
....due to their compressed noses.

19. He's already disenfranchising others.
What about cats? Are the Obamas cat haters? Are they canine supremacists?

Was a cat even considered as a First Pet?

The felines want a voice too and are willing to use hairballs, spraying, caterwauling and furniture scratching to get it! :)

20. Are the Obamas allergic to cats?
That's the only good reason for them not adopting a cat or kitten. I have a rescued kitten for them if they want it (I just can't get a good pic of him).

This is Rocky's profile on Catster. He'd make an excellent First Kitty.
http://www.catster.com/cats/899234
The page says I'll adopt out the kitten to within 50 miles of where I live, but I'll make an exception for the First Family to be.
