Do You Agree With Some At MSNBC That Obama Supporters Are Rude, Arrogant And Close Minded?
Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 12:02 PM by ihavenobias
No, that's not an exaggeration. That sure seemed to be the take of four different hosts/correspondents as you can see in . Can you believe it? I highly recommend you watch the video *before* you comment to get the context.

Also keep this in mind the next time some dope tries to tell you how MSNBC is the "Left equivalent of Fox News", etc. Sure, Keith and Rachel are there, but unlike Fox News the Entire Network is NOT liberal or progressive, not even close. I'm not even arguing that it should be, just pointing out how absurd the idea is based on reality.

And of course the McCain rally clip later on in the video is very satisfying because it destroys their terrible argument (not that it wasn't absurd on it's face).

PS---Make sure you check out the new Post Election Episode with Jonathon Alter, Marcy Wheeler Of FireDogLake, Brad From BradBlog, & Cenk. include Rachel Maddow, Michael Moore, John Cusack, Bernie Sanders, David Sirota and many more (and Margaret Cho will be a future guest). I'm amazed that more people aren't aware of this show!

Maybe I shouldn't be, but I was shocked at this terrible segment. I mean, it's over the top ridiculous. Their reaction was laughable, and more fitting for Fox News.

48. I refuse to watch Morning Schmoe, so haven't researched it myself ...
... but I have wondered whether their crack investigative team has reported on the lady in Grosse Pointe Farms, a McCain supporter, who denied Halloween candy to children of Obama supporters.

The segment you reference was well-covered by Cenk; a ridiculous attempt at a gotcha segment that fell flat, and so was exaggerated and twisted by those back in the studio to paint Obama supporters as just as bad as the lunatics at McCain/Palin rallies.

3. thanks for recommending "Meet the Bloggers"
I was unaware of it. It looks like Cenk gets to film on a different soundstage. For some reason the one on TYT reminds me of the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer finds the Merv Griffin Show set and reinacts episodes of the show in his apartment.

5. More projection, blame others of what your guilty of its a republicon conservative trait
that we have seen played out time after time over the last 30 years. Think about it, the economic melt down is a direct result of republicon deregulations and gutting the consumer protections laws. It allowed predatory loans with little to no over sight on anything. Yet now its blame the democrats for allowing the republicons to do all of these terrible things.

There are rude, arrogant and close minded people on ALL sides of the political spectrum, and it doesn't have anything to do with politics. Those people are that way in all aspects of their lives. Those are just human traits that some people have.

19. Once again
It will never stop amazing me that in my opinion the right wing defines how bad they really by what they project onto the liberals in this country. If you listen to what they spout about hateful, arrogant and closed minded I think that is the very definition of the far right wing in this country. Another question, what is so bad about being proud of your intelligence. I guess in their bizzaro world 'smart bad, dumb good'.

21. Here's my letter on the subject from 11/2/08.
An Open Letter To Mike Barnicle. Re: Comments About Hating The Left.

Recently on an episode of Morning Joe there was a segment were Willie Geist went to the Upper West Side of Manhattan to show how closed minded those people were. Willie Geist, wearing a McCain Palin shirt tried to talk to people about voting for McCain/Palin. None of the people were rude, no one shouted and the people there seemed to be much more polite than most people in a large city. Some even thanked Willie, but refused the shirt. Of course, then the panel came on to tell the audience what they really saw.

Willie, Joe, Mika and yourself commented on how disturbing it was that these people were unreceptive to hearing about McCain. It was supposed show, according to the four of you that these people were rude and pompous. I think it showed polite people and a rude and pompous panel. A lying, pretentious panel designed to dumb down the electorate and in the process show how fair and balanced they were. You even went so far as to say it was ‘right to loathe the left.’ Now, I don’t know if this comment was because of your own twisted version of reality, where you look for demons, and where none can be found, you create them. Or it was because you are a paid tool, on the television to create a sense of equality between the two political sides where none exists. This is one of those times where the media, this time you in particular, failed miserably at your chosen profession. Just like when the media pretends both sides of the global warming debate are equal, or the two sides of the evolution debate are equal, you pretended now that hating the left is okay, because they supposedly look down on the right. Where, like this segment, the media pretends that the hate on the left is equal to or worse than the hate on the right. That is pure un-adulterated bullshit. Their hate comes from untrue ideas, i.e., Iraq attacked us; or it comes from bigotry. Our side is rightly mad about torture, a million people dead in Iraq, loss of constitutional rights, people dieing from lack of healthcare and millions slipping into poverty. And those things are equal to you, Mike?

Really Mike? It’s okay to loathe the left? Have you seen the videos of the McCain/Palin rallies? Have you seen the videos of an Obama rally? Because the difference between the two lays out the difference between the sides quite nicely. Did you expect the people on the street to stop and ask, “Please tell us all you know about this McCain fella, and spare no details. I’ve never heard of him?” How would this have gone down in Dallas, Texas, with someone wearing an Obama shirt? There is good portion of the people there who believe Obama is a Muslim and are not afraid to say so.

You owe the left, your audience and journalists everywhere an apology.

All I can think to say is if the people watching agree with those assessments, then they are too brain dead to convince otherwise anyway. However, I think people are smarter than that and would rather deal with those "arrogant" people than the wingnuts at a Palin rally.

It's sort of like what President Obama (I will NEVER tire of writing that) said. It is almost like they are proud to be stupid and racist.

I have to admit to being intolerant lately myself though. Intolerant of the intolerant. They do nothing but judge, but if anyone dare question their bs? Out come the flag and the bible. Ah well, they are politically irrelevant now. For the time being at least.
