1. Leviticus was written in a whole different context though

not that most folks know this

It was an abomination in the context of SLAVERY

The Gay was accepted and actually practiced in the ancient world...

But it was an abomination for the master to lay with slave boys

That little thing called BIBLICAL exegis that is not done

2. Most of the book of Leviticus are laws directed at the Levites themselves

Most of the book of Leviticus are laws and mores written and directed at the Levites themselves (the priest caste of the twelve tribes). Quite a bit less are laws ans mores directed at the twelve tribes as a whole. Almost none of it is directed specifically at gentiles.

3. I personally question a lot of what is quoted from the Bible since it has been translated from

the original language...Hebrew to Aramaic to Greek to Latin, etc etc...so many times, by so many people, that the possibilities for mistranslation are incredible. And I would not even start on the subject of trying to explain the writings that in many cases may be metaphors, never meant to be taken literally.
I cannot abide using the language of the Bible to justify anything...especially when it is used to justify hate and prejudice.

4. Thanks for the laugh! You know what REALLY pissed me off this election?

I actually saw several signs that said "Vote the Bible" with alot of fine print after that header. That just set me off! Hubby just kinda sat quietly driving while I raged on. BTW, this was in DE, not in the southern megachurch belt.
