Who Killed Riley Fox?

Father Imprisoned in Disappearance and Death of 3-Year-Old

By DAVID MUIR, MIGUEL SANCHO and RENA FURUYA

Nov. 7, 2008

In the summer of 2004, a little girl named Riley Fox was abducted and murdered in the small town of Wilmington, Ill., about 60 miles southwest of Chicago. It was a gruesome crime that rocked the Rust Belt community and remains a mystery to this day.

But more than just a tragedy and a whodunit, the Riley Fox case is the story of her family's strange, overwhelming ordeal -- a nightmare in which Riley's death was only the first excruciating episode.

On the morning of June 6, 2004, Kevin Fox was home alone with his two children, 3-year-old daughter Riley and son Tyler, 6. His wife Melissa was away that weekend for a walk to raise breast cancer awareness in Chicago.

Just before 8 a.m., Tyler woke Kevin and told him that Riley was gone. Kevin began searching for her himself, but after 40 minutes with no luck he called the police.

1. Cops don't go for who did it, silly. They go for who is easiest to convict
As a result, taking Occam's Razor to an illogical extreme

3. yep they are basically lazy
there is no concern about Justice, just getting the numbers up so they can get attention in the media. And the media uses that to sell papers.

They had a strange and interesting last name - the Diwiddies? or something like that.

The father/husband spent actual hard core jail time after their daughter was found beaten, strangled and sexually abused. Neighbors had seen someone skulking around the property where they lived, but the cops were not interested.

He got out, but I don't think the cops cared enough to go after the real perp.

It was made into a Lifetime movie some years ago. The worst thing was how the real killer had bragged that the little girl had been like a Timex watch - "She takes a licking and still keeps ticking."
