Al Gore says Obama's election overwhelming
Gore says Obama's election overwhelming

Friday, November 7, 2008

(11-07) 18:59 PST San Francisco, CA (AP) --

Former vice president Al Gore said Friday he was overwhelmed by Barack Obama's victory in the presidential election and credited the Internet for the campaign's success.

"The electrifying redemption of America's revolutionary declaration that all human beings are created equal would not have been possible without ... the Internet," Gore said at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, where he spoke to a crowd of about 400 people. .

"Each of you could probably share personal stories about what got you the most ... I've got a long list. It really was overwhelming."

Gore — who has become a strong advocate for the environment since losing his own bid for the presidency in 2000 — said Obama should have the U.S. using only renewable energy sources within 10 years, comparing the initiative to President Kennedy's goal of putting a man on the moon.

To meet the goal, he said Obama should turn to the young people inspired by his campaign and who "want a purpose."

and enlightenment more than anything, since the First Amendment first went in to effect during the dusk of the eighteenth century.

I believe this growing people empowerment technology is the primary reason we have a President Elect Obama.

I also salute President Gore for his actions in championing this cause, God only knows he paid a heavy price for it.:patriot:

Thanks for the thread, Kadie.

3. And he helped to start it off with Gorenet (not to mention he helped bring us the internet)
Gore saw the future of online campaigning. He had links to sign up for e-mails, he was providing videos and how to register to vote online. Unfortunately, he was doing it at a time (Nov. 1999) when most people didn't have a home computer.

As the 2000 primaries and caucuses approach, your involvement in this campaign becomes increasingly important. You can get involved and make a difference today by volunteering for Gore 2000 online, joining the Gore 2000 I-Team, Women for Gore, Students For Gore, African Americans for Gore, or simply letting us know how you feel on the issues in Gore 2000's electronic Town Hall.
