CA 4th race between Charlie Brown and a Carpetbagging Chickenhawk
We can get one more Dem in Congress if we can help support Charlie Brown's bid for the 4th District. This is Doolittle's old district, so the victory will be twice as sweet.

Come on, people, please keep this K & R, and get the word out. We need this seat, and Brown is a worthy candidate.

"Only few hundred votes separate McClintock, Brown in hotly contested 4th district House race"

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ It could be days or weeks before a winner is declared in the 4th Congressional District, a longtime conservative stronghold in Northern California where fewer than 500 votes separated the candidates Wednesday.

Elsewhere, the Obama wave that swept California failed to flip any GOP-held congressional seats into Democratic hands on Election Day. Republican incumbents held on, though some with narrower margins than usual.

So Democrats' desire to grow their 34-19 majority in California's House delegation — and pile onto their expanded majorities in Washington — hung on the outcome in the 4th district. Democrat Charlie Brown, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, was in a dead heat there with Republican Tom McClintock, a state senator from Southern California's Thousand Oaks area.

McClintock led Brown by 451 votes out of 311,091 cast, according to early results from the secretary of state Wednesday. Up to 40,000 or more provisional and absentee ballots remained to be counted.

1. Please oh please oh please!!
I would be so crushed if Charlie lost for the second time by a razor thin margin in such an overwhelmingly Republican district.

The fact that it's so close is an indication that scumbag McClintock does not deserve the job!

2. And Charlie is SO deserving!
This is so close, and we need DUers to support him through this last stretch.

Winning is a real prospect, if we can help him be sure the votes get counted.

The RNC is going to do all they can to be sure that votes for Brown are disqualified, and we can't let that happen.

5. UPDATE-50,000 uncounted absentee and provisional ballots
An update from the campaign, www.charliebrownforcongress.org Your help is needed:

Thank you all so much for your support over the last two days. And with your help we are working 24/7 to ensure that every legal vote in this election is counted.

Please Click Here to Help us Ensure that every Vote is counted.

We remain confident that once all absentee and provisional ballots are tallied, Charlie Brown will emerge with more votes than Tom McClintock.

That said, there have been a number of developments in the past 24 hours. Here's what we know right now:

· Charlie Brown has won at least 3 of 9 counties in the CA 04 race-Sierra, Plumas, and Nevada. The district's two largest counties , Placer and El Dorado, are too close to call.

· The number of uncounted absentee and provisional ballots district-wide has RISEN to over 50,000, including thousands of provisional ballots.

As the process unfolds and we all take part in an historic election that only gets more intense every day, we will continue to keep all of you informed.

Click here to contribute to our ongoing efforts to ensure EVERY ballot it counted.

Six counties are still not finished counting more than 50,000 ballots.

El Dorado and Placer counties are too close to call, and Butte, Sacramento, and Lassen counties have the fewest ballots out. That leaves Nevada County as the battleground---which Charlie won on election day with more than a 15% advantage.

We are profoundly grateful for the tireless efforts being made by all 9 county registrars to ensure a transparent and fair counting process. And we remain focused on ensuring we have the on-the-ground resources to support their efforts in the face of an army of Right Wing partisan lawyers.

If you have contributed to the campaign's election protection fund, we cannot thank you enough - if you have not, please consider contributing now, and please forward this request to friends, family and neighbors to ensure that their voice is heard.

We will NOT rest until every vote is counted.

We WILL ultimately be successful.

Thank you so much for your support. Stay tuned for more updates as we grind through the process.

Sincerely,

Todd Stenhouse

Campaign Manager

P.S. - Please contribute now to ensure we can get every vote counted, and please forward this urgent request to five friends!
