A Question About Obama's Stimulus Package |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-08-08 08:11 AM by louis c
I represent about 200 workers at a racetrack. Half will be laid off today for about 6 months because of the seasonal nature of our business.
My question is this. I know that there is an extension of benefits. That will affect only a small number. However, I heard talk during the campaign that unemployment benefits would be exempt from federal taxes. Currently unemployment benefits are taxed as income. Will this change to reduce the taxes on my members?

of a proposal to make unemployment exempt from taxation.
It could happen, but it's VERY unlikely to affect 2008 anyway.
