I'm sad that Prop 8 passed in CA and I really think it's ugly to be trying to pass the blame to folks here at DU.

Period.

7. I'm not stirring anything.
If anything, I'm trying to calm the waters.

3. Why are you trying to stir hate and scapegoat gays?

10. I'm sorry, I don't understand that response to the post.
I'm not trying to scapegoat anyone and certainly not trying to stir hate.

Tell me what I seem to be missing here.

9. What I care about
Is that people who voted Democratic also voted in favor of discrimination. I also care that so few think of this as an important issue, which is perfectly described by you, in that you feel free to post about this in a divisive way, but you don't even bother to have the basic facts in line first. Prop 8 did pass. A yes vote from Democrats in favor of discrimination passed the bill.
You claim to have something to add but you don't even know the meaning of a 'yes' vote vs a 'no' vote. That is what I care about. Disengaged Democrats too short sighted and prejudiced to understand the issue and how it impacts our future as a Party. The Republicans understand their part, which is to elect Romeny in 2012. Democrats who vote in favor of discrimination are in fact helping to lay the groundwork for the GOP campaign to defeat Obama in 2012, which I am sure is not what these foolish voters intend. They need to drop the prejudice and see the long game, the common ground, and the mutual goals and rivals we as Democrats share, be we GLBT or not, Black or white or both, black and gay or white and straight. We need to wake up and know both our friends and our enemies. Pretending that the Romeny faction of the GOP and Democrats have any mutual goals at all is dangerous, and those that share the goal of discrimination with them are dangerous to our Party. They need to wise up, grow up, and stand up if they wish to be helpful agents of change instead of unwitting patsies for the GOP.

11. Good post. And I agree with your sentiments.
I miss typed in the OP just as you did in "Romeny."

Yes, there were Dems who did vote for Prop 8, but dear god, we're making progress here. I wish I could wave a wand and have everyone become tolerant of the GLBT community. But I also remember when an "outed" gay's life was in danger just by his or hers being outed.

Change IS coming.

And I will do what I can to help.
