I guess the voters in Washington didn't get tricked easily with Rossi's party label change.

I wonder if any of the voters were confused by the GOP label and decided to vote for Gregoire cause they couldn't find a Republican?

2. heh
While it wasn't the nailbiter it was last time, it was a lot closer than the Obama/McCain split in WA. Looks like lots of people bought into Dino's "I'm for change too!" message.

3. One small factor in the tight race might have been the WASL.
Something I've read in comments on other sites which made sense: a lot of younger voters were voting against Gregoire because of her percieved involvement with the WASL. Thank goodness we were able to get in a superintendant of Ed. that wants to abolish the monolithic, one-size-fits all nature of that test.

7. And it was scary. Rossi had 24/7 attacks, and Gregoire did very little to defend herself.
I really thought she was going down.

I have acquaintances who are lobbyists in Olympia and they said the widespread understanding among the politicos is that Gregoire feels as a public servant her record should stand for itself, and she shouldn't have to engage in that sort of thing.

I'm glad it worked out. We'd have been royally fucked with a Rossi administration.

8. I was in Yakima in Sep. Mom asked what GOP was.
Some people really don't know. I told her the truth. "Greedy Oil Party".:D
