Obama has made me feel good about Religion and Christianity again. |
|
I am not that deeply religious but I was very sad to see how the GOP hijacked the Christian religion in this country in such a way that it turned my stomach on religion as a whole.

I was heart sick as to what they tried to do to Christianity. My little liberal church was mocked as "not Christian enough" I just got back from a celebration at the Church and everyone was in high spirits, God is Love and loves PEACE. Thank God for Barak & Joe!

3. Religion was invented by man.... |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-08-08 10:02 PM by MazeRat7
It was invented as a way to give sheeple hope while keeping them in line (so to speak). It has served its purpose and will continue to do so. It also has caused more death and destruction than any government.
Being spiritual, like Obama, is certainly a good thing, but being dogmatic is not.
No humans get through life without some kind of "belief" or "faith". I'm not talking a "deity" , but a belief in something that is more powerful then themselves. Yes we are the center of our own universe, but we are only playing by the rules the real universe dictated.
We all need hope , we all need dreams, but in this life it's up to us. There is no magical old guy that's going to "judge" us at some mythical gate. There is no evil guy that is going to see us burn.
These are all metaphores about the wonderus universe we live in, our place on a very special plant that sustains life, and that we are an indicidual part of the collective.
Peace, MZr7

6. I still wish religion wasn't so prominent in American politics |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-08-08 10:09 PM by sub.theory
As an atheist, I find the presence of religious issues in politics and public life extremely tiring. I understand that Obama had to play the game (as all our public figures do), but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, though, I'm just so relieved that the American Taliban isn't in charge anymore.
Edit: With the very notable exception of Prop 8, of course. I hope that's the last gasp of the religious right.

7. I like Obama in spite of his religion. |
|
I still see religion as, at best, a monumental waste of one's time and life.
