How about appointing Lieberman to something? |
|
Like say... ambassador to Guyana. The Ct. Gov. appoints a new senator (If Ned Lamont still wants it, cool!). Then after the new Senator is all set up and sworn in, Obama fires Lieberman and sends him packing from Washington forever!!!
It could happen.

4. The Connecticut governor is a Republican. She'd appoint one of theirs. |
|
Part of what has to happen involves taking back the Ct. governors office in 2010.
Or do an initiative petition to require Senate vacancies in Connecticut to be filled via immediate special election.
Without either of those, it doesn't do us any good for Joe to resign his seat.

Seems like there ought to be SOME good to come from the Patriot Acts and Military Commission Act, etc.

14. A long-term, anti-Lieberman effort is needed |
|
Complaining about him on DU is all well and good, but we need to assemble a political force to eliminate him from contention in the next applicable primary or election. We failed last time, but with four years ahead of us, we can destroy his political power base.
It's going to be very tough for the Senate Democratic leadership to kick him out or demote him without doing damage to the party. And besides, that should be OUR job. (Kicking out Lieberman, not doing damage to the party.)
This could be one part of a program to target and remove Democrats who are hurting the party. Not the Democrats who may not follow our every whim -- that's ALL of them! -- but the real bad apples. It may only be five or six legislators all together, but it's probably do-able even with a small staff and a modest budget.

16. How About "Plumber" For The Republican Shithouse? |
|
They are so full of crap there must be a serious need to keep their toilets unclogged. Remember too, now that the original Joe the plumber's 15 minutes is up, we will need to find a replacement. And hey! Lieberman's first name is Joe after all, so we won't have to change the business cards and stationary.

I suggested he be made Secretary of State.
to repeat one of my favorite scenes from "Independence Day"
Nimzicki: I know you are still upset over the death of your wife, but that's no reason for making another huge mistake ...
President: The only mistake I ever made was appointing a snivelling little weasel like you Secretary of Defense.
Nimzicki: I don't think you understand ...
President (talking over him): But I am happy to say that's a mistake I don't have to live with. Mr. Nimzicki. You're fired!
