I thought, Great! and ran off to hear what the man had to say. What did he say? One message was for the young gangbangers who stood in line for hours to cast their vote for Barack: they should get to serious work now, pull their pants up and go to school, and help the man we all elected president. He said you can't rebuild cities if you don't know what you're doing.

He talked about how Barack Obama, a man of two races, said that he thought it was his duty to bring the two together.

So fucking take your rolling-eyes bad attitude and shove it up your pants.

3. farrakhan is another merchant of hate. screw ALL the segregationists, white, black, or purple
they can have their views, but their fundamental message of hate makes them irrelevent to me

responsible for themselves and take a more active role in their communities. Barack Obama can not do it by himself, each of us has to do our part.

Right now he's also talking about world wide wars and global poverty.

We must be aware of the hatred by those (you know who they are - Mccain and Palin brought out the best of 'em) who do not wish to see a black man in the White House.

In addition he says that we (we as in the AA community and Congress and gov't officials) should not hamstring the camel (Obama). To hamstring the camel renders it useless and ineffective and impossible for it to do what it was created it do.

He says Obama may lack experience but he has vision and that's what America needs right now is a visionary. He is of black and white and was born to bring the two people (black and white) together.

Warns: Do not cut the hamstring.

Overall, he is preaching a positive message. I have to go out in a few and can't listen to the entirety.

6. Yes, Farrakhan is giving a very postive speech
Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 12:35 PM by keep_it_real
He spoke very powerfully of Obama having vision to save America and Obama needs the help of everyone in America. And if Obama's vision for America is "hamstrug" by congress then America will suffer a great chastisement of God.

8. oh, fuck that religious garbage. he sounds just as loony as
Robertson. In fact, Robertson sounded saner than that the other day. And Farrakhan is undoubtedly a bigot. I'm sure he'll be doing his own hamstringing of Obama. In any case, Obama will steer clear of him.

11. Thank you very much for alerting me to this. Please read my note:
I listened to the rest, ordered a copy, and wish I had the money to order a copy and pay a few people for their time to listen to it. Unfortunately there are many, even among us, who's mind is already made up without really examining what Minister Farrakhan stands for and what he says.

I believe fully and would bet real money and win the bet that it was Minister Farrakhan who shut up Rev. Wright and told him to not hinder "the brother's chances". Did you notice from one minute to the next Rev. Wright was off all radars, probably in a box under the bridge in Timbuktu.

I digress - thanks for the heads up.

15. He's a racist. he's a homophobe. he's an anti-semite. In short, he's a disgusting
purveyor of hate. And Obama stands against all of those things.

18. he is exactly that and his own words bear testament to what he is.
He's no better than the wingnut haters on the right. He is, in fact, a perfect mirror of that hate.

Please educate yourself as to what he has said.

19. I don't want a tit for tat little fight, but hear me, Cali:
I know Louis Farrakhan, I would like to call him a friend of mine, and you, Cali, don't see the same man I know.

I am a little, white, poor, immigrant, naturalized, ageing white woman in the South. I have read numerous books written about him and his life, have many CD's of his speeches, all of which I have listened to over a number of years. I have friends who have been to the Million Man March. I have one very close friend of many years who is one of the NOI ministers and who keeps me abreast and answers my questions, he just got back from Chicago meeting with him a week before the election.

Minister Farrakhan has treated me with the utmost respect, and I want you to know where I am coming from when I take a stand and reject what you say about him.

for tea and crumpets twice weekly. He's made far too many outrageous bigoted hate comments for any decent human being to support him.

20. Oh.... I don't know...
From what is actually a very favorable write-up on wikipedia:

"“Cokely spoke the truth” and “because the truth hurts. I know this man Cokely. I know if he said it, he got the stuff to back it up.” -- Chicago Sun Times, May 10, 1988, concerning statements by Chicago Black activist and former municipal official Steve Cokely asserting that Jews engaged in an international conspiracy to take over the world, and that Jewish doctors deliberately injected black children with the AIDS virus.."

Now I know he didn't actually SPEAK those words, the ones attributed to Steve Cokely, but he sure as hell backed them up 100%.

That's hatemongering in and of itself.

Now hopefully he can let some things go and become a more positive voice as he winds down his career in ministry.
