1. We need to keep them voting and supporting Democrats.
This bodes well for the Democratic Party because there is evidence that how people vote for the first time will establish their life long voting pattern and certainly millions of these voters were voting for the first time.

2. Yes, We the young who have been screwed very badly over these Bush years.
When your young, its hard to get your foot in any door.. but during Bush years, a degree now qualifies you to work at McDonald's or a Retail store...

7. young people are the future of the nation
Believe it or not, but the president of 2024 and most of congress at that time will be from our ranks.

9. The results could potentially bode very well for the future
Certainly no guarantee, as there is strong evidence that the last several generations have voted the most liberal that they ever vote when they are younger and gradually move to the right with age.

However, there is also evidence that the partisan identification that a generation latches on to stays with them for life. This is why those who came of age during the Great Depression continued to identify as and vote for Democrats throughout their life, even as they moved in a slightly more conservative direction ideologically with age. This is why those in the age range who came of age during Reagan are some of the strong Repug identifiers in the electorate.

Also, these statistics possibly demonstrate positive trends for the future of many currently red states. The younger populations of TX, AL, MS voted for Obama? AL and MS voted around 20-percent for McSame over Obama. The difference in how those of different age groups in these states voted is striking and definitely worth noting.

11. It will be easy to keep them.
ALL the Democrats have to do is...DELIVER.

I went to college in the late '60s.
It was possible to get a degree without going in debt.
A part time job and working the Summers was ALL it took to pay for IN-STATE tuition and books.
Most students could do that, live on campus, AND afford to own a used car.
It is obscene that the richest country on the planet does NOT provide FREE Universal higher education to EVERYONE who wants it.

Tax breaks for Corporations who provide GOOD entry level jobs and training with benefits and career opportunities would also be a good way to hold the youth vote.

If the Democratic Party does NOT deliver and it is just more Big Business as usual, then say "Goodbye".

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.
