I do love the Anchorage Daily News - What's Ahead for Sarah
Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 02:41 PM by Blue_In_AK
Seven Challenges. http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/story/583456.html?pageNum=1&&&&&&mi_pluck_action=page_nav#Comments_Container This is a really good analysis, and the comments are priceless. I got in a few myself.

I promised I'd keep Palin news to a minimum, but I know some of you can't get enough of her.

For two months she basked -- and sizzled -- in the world's hottest celebrity spotlight. Now Sarah Palin has come home to begin the last two years of her term as governor of Alaska.

Everything has changed: Palin's personal horizon, her relations with the state's other elected officials, the public's sense of who she is.

Palin returned to her office Friday amid a brutal crossfire between detractors and defenders in the McCain camp. At the same time, however, a new national poll said 64 percent of Republicans consider her their top choice to run for president in 2012.

Does Palin really want to run for president in four years? And if she does, would it be best to find a way to the U.S. Senate, where she could acquire some of the big-time political and foreign-policy luster lacking in her first national campaign?

<snip>

representative comment:

Can't we have one day of the week when ADN doesn't plaster Sarah's ugly mug across the front page??? Sarah's no spring chicken, and sitting under that tanning bed every day is giving her more wrinkles than a parched prune... By 2012 she'll need some serious cosmetic surgery if she still hopes to get the "excitement" vote from male voters...

1. I can't wait for my kids to read in their history books about McCain's choice of
Palin - I hope they coin the term "Palincide" for the dooming of a candidate by picking a crappy Veep.

2. Sarah Palin's only tools are looks and charm
She is ruthless and ambitious, but she really only has those two tools to work with. she is at an age where her looks will be fading. Is charm enough on the big stage?

3. Appreciated here.... I'm a sucker for schadenfreude re: Palin
As bad as that is karmically, I've not yet evolved in that respect.

5. I hear what you're saying.
It's why I couldn't leave AlaskaSheilah alone with her stupid comments. My better angels tell me to leave her alone, but...

4. She's not really all that hot, either.
I'm just saying. Because every time someone talks about her (not necessarily here, mind) they always say it like there's an "yeah, I'd tap that" behind it. Calling her the GovernorILF got old after about five minutes.

She's not an unattractive person. The only thing that's painful on her is when she speaks with that weird "Minnesota-ish" accent (and those dumb ideas ... I wanted to curl up into a foetal ball when she said "drill, baby, drill", over and over again.

But there's something about her face that's just out of proportion. Maybe its the jaw, I donno. But it's a turnoff.

I remember feeling the same way when I realized just how freakishly large Anne Hathaway's eyes are. Same "uh-oh" feeling.

So, attractive? Yeah, kinda. GILF? Not even a toll call from that area code.

There. I said it. I feel better now.

Maybe Maher can make this a New Rule or something.

6. Mr. D. says "she's kinda attractive , in a really scary way"
Dunno how to translate that man-speak, I do know he does not mean that as a turn on.

9. Maybe it's like saying Bush's nose is kinda attractive in a predatory bird way
The beginning thought and the end thought in that sentence gives your backbone one of those creeping willies feeling but it's too fascinating to not look.

7. It's great to be able to rate up the anti-Palin comments on the blogs
http://community.adn.com/adn/blog/24417

Did Palin help or hurt McCain?

Palin speaks: 'those guys are jerks...'

'They are desperate to find someone to blame for their long, long list of mistakes'

:)

ed. Oh, wow, make that 17. With my permission, I'll reprint it here.

Sarah is two-faced, that's one thing we've learned for sure. Before August 29, she was all about bipartisanship and cooperation and "gettin' things done," speaking highly of Obama, and being all smiley and bubbly and popular, saying it wouldn't bother her one bit if Alaska turned purple -- giving away an extra $1200 to every man, woman and child resident of the state this fall to help with our high energy costs. (Socialist) We never saw the dark side of her. It's no wonder she was popular. Some of us were just starting to have some questions and doubts when Walt Monegan got fired, but Sarah said she would cooperate, so everybody was cool with it. And then -- bam! -- there she was on the national stage, rabid right-wing partisan fruitcake accusing Obama of "pallin' around with terrorists," formenting hate and divisiveness, so unlike anything we'd ever seen in the past two years. She's a walking contradiction, and she shocked the s*** out of us. I doubt that even people who knew her well would have imagined her going so far over the top on the campaign trail. I don't see how anyone could ever trust her again. She has betrayed her Democratic and Independent supporters, and she's generated an atmosphere of hate that I never would have believed a year ago. It's shocking.

10. Thanks Blue! Let me clarify something. Registered Republicans only make-up 33% of the electorate. So
when it says 64% of Registered Repukes want CariBoo Barbie to run for office, you are only talking about 21% percent of the electorate. That is less than what Stephen Colbert calls the backwash!

The telling figure would be the amount of Republicans and Independents.

11. Another comment here! Just remember! For whatever investigations that will
now take place, she will not have the benefit of 100s of lawyers, and she also does not have a make-up artist with her at all times now!

So bring on travelgate, email gate and housegate!

PS...this doesn't even include the shrinking oil revenue...how much will the people of Alaska love her then when the checks are smaller next year???

12. "I want to be able to help also Americans to know that they can trust their media," Palin said.

Funniest quote in the entire article, imo.
