3. why are these people on the dishonor list - they give to LGBT - they should be taken off |

William Bolthouse, Bakersfield, CA The Bolthouse Foundation–2000 Oak Street, Suite 200, Bakersfield, CA 93301-3058 • Tel: 661.334.1915 • Web: www.thebolthousefoundation.org $100,000 on 4/3/08
William Bolthouse, Jr. and his wife created the Bolthouse Foundation "to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by supporting charitable and religious organizations whose ministry, goals, and operating principles are consistent with evangelical Christianity as described in The Bolthouse Foundation Statement of Faith. <17> He was made wealthy through his family business, Bolthouse Farms, the 2nd largest producer of carrots in the world. He helped expand the business into beverages and salad dressings, and in 2005 sold 72% of the business to Madison Dearborn Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm. 28% of Bolthouse Farms is now owned by Bolthouse's daughter and son-in-law, Andre Radandt, who is the company's Chairman. Bolthouse Farms recently took significant steps to demonstrate that it is committed to diversity, including those in the LGBT community. They recently extended medical benefits to same sex partners of employees, and have given generously to several national and California LGBT organizations.

Of course, if legal rights were refused via vote it would make it easier for them to withdraw benefits without looking like Scrooges?

11. What about the other Christian churches? A free pass for them? |
|
Look at the donor list. Plenty of blame all around.
There is some rationale for making an example out of the Mormons - a kind of concentrated warning.
But I'm uncomfortable (ans stated so in a number of threads here) when I've heard plenty of homophobic rants from Baptists, Evangelicals, Catholics. They have far more members.
Why not boycott their businesses? Why not boycott all businesses that gave to prop 8. Better yet, why not write them, since were in a recession, they won't know simply because business falls off.

7. What was the website for Yes on H8? Protect Families or something like that. |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 03:28 PM by sfexpat2000
They had a list of donors/endorsers there.
ETA: It was protectmarriage and the cowards have taken down their list of endorsers.

they took my wifes' job away after 18 years of working for Jack Eckerd Corporation. Flat ran the company into the ground and then sold it to Brooks.
I will never buy anything at jcps' ever.

13. There is no such thing as a Mormon business. |
|
There are Mormons who own or invest in businesses. Not every one of them was a supporter of the anti-marriage props. Calling for a boycott based simply on the religion of the owner is painting with a very broad brush and, frankly, hateful.
