Palin returns to a changed Alaska: urges let bygones be bygones, doncha know!
Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 06:54 PM by Bluebear
Mending fences may not be that easy. The governor’s old bipartisan coalition is gone, says state Rep. Les Gara, a Democrat who was a Palin ally on key oil and gas issues.

When she left Alaska in August to run as the Republican vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin was a much-loved governor with approval ratings near 90 percent; a record for pursuing centrist, bipartisan policies; and a reputation as a corruption-fighter.

Her home state was awash in money, thanks to record oil prices, and residents were set to get big checks in the form of dividends from the Alaska Permanent Fund and a state tax rebate. The economic future seemed secure, with Governor Palin advancing the case for a big, new, natural-gas pipeline.

What a difference a couple of months make.

Upon her return to Alaska Nov. 5, Palin’s nonpartisan reputation is in shreds, a side effect of her role as chief attacker of Democratic rival Barack Obama. Damaged, too, is her image as ethics reformer, with questions lingering over an abuse-of-power scandal involving a feud against her sister’s ex-husband, alleged circumvention of public-records laws, concerns about state payments for her children’s travel and nights spent in her own home, and even how she acquired the haute-couture wardrobe she sported on the campaign trail.

Palin, in her first moments back as full-time governor, urged opponents to let bygones be bygones.

“Nobody should have hurt feelings,” she said at the Anchorage airport the night she returned to Alaska. “My goodness, this is politics. Politics is rough and tumble, and people need to get thick skins, just like I’ve gotten.” MORE....

2. This is the new repukian theme - forgiveness. So we can all just get along.
Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 07:00 PM by geckosfeet
So the dems look like bad sports when they tell the repukes to shove their forgiveness where the sun does not shine. All of a sudden the repukes are holding hands and singing kumbaya my lord. What a bunch of manipulative two faced evil opportunists.

4. If Palin has thick skin then why is she bringing up what people say and do
as a result of her campaign. Can she spell hypocrisy?

6. She's trying to dodge her responsibilities in how evil and dangerous she was.
and the fall out from that. She has no honor or integrity, she's purposefully malicious and she lies for sport. You betcha.

7. Why hasn't anybody made the comparison yet...SHE'S RUNNING A BEAUTY PAGEANT!
Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 07:16 PM by Atman
That's what's freaked me out so much about virtually every aspect of her so-called campaign. It hasn't been a campaign for Vice President, it has been a campaign for Miss Universe. She's acting as if she's just in another bigger, awesomer, gosh-darnit fantabulous beauty pageant. Tina Fey was on the money when she played Palin holding a flute at the debate with Biden -- "Are we going to the talent portion now?" That's all it's been for this small-town girl, bless her heart. She out-Petered the Peter Principle. She has risen spectacularly to an unprecedented level of imcompetence.

Even "Heckuva Job Brownie" was out done by Palin. Brownie was just the lucky recipient of some political patronage at an unfortunate time in meteorological history. But Palin seems to actually be living a beauty pageant campaign for the coronation she was unable to achieve on the National pageant circuit. On election night, I kept waiting for the footage of her weeping in soft-focus in the background while Michelle Obama was presented with a sparkling tiara and a huge bouquet of roses.

Palin's got issues.

16. Issues is a euphemism
She's bat shit crazy. You're right, she has no conception re a political campaign. The best part was when she wanted to speak after McGramps conceded. She doesn't even know protocol in a national campaign.
By the way, she didn't win that Miss Alaska beauty contest either. Poor Sarah - runner-up to those black people again.

My bet is that Sarah scandals will continue until she meets a sorry end when she finally bites off more than she can chew.

10. bygones my ass
My feelings aren't hurt, I'm just disgusted and angry. If she thinks the nation will just excuse or forget what she's done she's in or a big surprise.

Blaming "double standards" for her media problems: just over the 4 minute mark she says "for instance, no one asked Barack Obama who did YOUR makeup before you went on stage"

Around the 3 minute mark: says RNC lawyers are not coming up to her house but an audit is going on so **the RNC can be held accountable**** for all the dollars that were spent"
