they agree to start mass production of the fuel efficient vehicles (plug-ins, etc.) they've already developed.

don't they already have the infrastructure to get the cars out there quicker, more efficiently? Plus, wouldn't saving all those jobs stabilize the economy better in the short term? Not that I necessarily want to help the big corporations, but they've got a lot of innocent employees that it would be good to keep employed.

The infrastructure will still be there.
The concerns about the short term and employees are much like saying the invention of electricity would ruin candle workers abilities to make a living.
