President Obama with UNLIMITED powers like bush had...WOO WOO!
I can't wait! bush was the 'above the law' president, he had unlimited powers to do anything, or not do anything, he ignored the laws, pissed on the constitution, crapped on Habeas Corpus, made torture of p.o.w.'s acceptable again, killed a million people, and stole trillions from the populace.

Thanks republicans!

1. The difference is Obama is a good Man
and would only do what is good for us as a whole.
I have a question though, was torture ever acceptable by us? Never was by me.

2.  Obama is
as different from Bush as ( fill in best here) is from ( go with the worst), but one of the most important things he can do is to give that power back to the people. If Obama keeps any of it, then when ( and it is inevitable) some fascist gets back, we are screwed. The best thing Obama can do ( and he will) is to give it up in such a way that he prevents any would-be dictator from doing what Bush did. I am very glad that at this time the person we elected had as one of his qualifications constitutional scholar.

3. I don't want a Unitary Executive
Edited on Mon Nov-10-08 08:45 AM by lunatica
Because as soon as the Republicans win they'll rescind everything the previous Democratic President does and then they'll be as bad as Bush.

I want our Constitutional government back, where Congress has the power. As imperfect as it is that's the better way.

But for now it's wonderful to know that Republican and Religious Righties' heads are exploding.

5. The Wingnuts Have No Clue...
Over the weekend I had my first chance to "chat" with a repugnican...an unrepentant one. He's sure that Obama won due to a media conspiracy...and that he's going to turn the country into a "Socialist Paradise". I said to him, "well, if it's a paradise, is that such a bad thing"? The horrid look on his strained face was precious...you could tell he hadn't had much sleep during the past couple days.

Next he threatened that a President Obama will be powerless...just like Clinton was (I guess this was the day of the week where the Clintons weren't the ultimate evil). I laughed again and told him, "Well not only do we have a solid majority in both houses, but, thanks to your hero, georgie booooosh, we have a Unitary Executive...Obama has the right and ability to be a dictator as long as he believes it's in the "best interests" of this country." You should have seen this dude's face turn a pale white that defies color catagorizing...you could see he didn't really understand what Unitary meant...but as we kept "chatting" I made sure he did. Somehow I don't think he slept very well the other night.

6. I opposed the expansion of executive powers under Bush,
I oppose them under Obama, and I sincerely hope that he negates them as soon as he gets into office. There are supposed to be three equal branches of government, not a unitary executive. Get rid of those powers, or who knows, we might just see somebody like Palin with them in 2012.

7. I think it would be difficult to disregard and dispose of Bush's signing statements
. . . while choosing to operate in the same illegal, tyrannical manner.

8. Obama already swore he would immediately
look over all of the chimp's signing statements and rescind the ones which are unconstitutional; I suppose that means all of them.

Of course, I support this 100% as one of the reasons I voted for him was to save the democracy of our nation, but it's fun to scare the freeps with their guy's unilateral power transferring now to a Marxist Socialist Reaganite conservative. Whew. I can't keep up with the roller-coaster of accusations and claims by the crazies.
