Maybe this was a big deal in the 1880s or 1790s ..... but these days?

Why?

The whole world knows how our political process works. In fact, in many parts of the world they know more about it than our own citizens who reside in the State (of mind) of Dumbfuckistan.

The cliches are flying fast and furious.

Huge nations with lots of guns and freak-zombies just dying to use them have very disruptive transitions of power. It wasn't all that long ago that Russia had tanks around government buildings, for instance. I stayed up nights watching that fiasco.

Given how terrified most of the world is of Bush *not* leaving on time, I'd say it's a bigger deal right now that under normal circumstances.
