Top Ten Power Brokers of the Religious Right. (Know thine enemy!)
1.Christian Broadcasting Network (Pat Robertson)
2.Focus on the Family (James Dobson)
3.American Center for Law and Justice/Christian Advocates Serving Evangelism (Pat Robertson and Jay Sekulow)
4.Alliance Defense Fund (Alan Sears)
5.American Family Association (Donald Wildmon)
6.Family Research Council (Tony Perkins)
7.Concerned Women for America (Tim and Beverly LaHaye)
8.Jerry Falwell Ministries
9.Southern Baptist Convention/Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission
10.Council for National Policy (Steve Baldwin)

For the past two years, numerous media pundits have been all abuzz over the so-called "death" of the Religious Right. There is one problem, however: Someone forgot to tell the Religious Right.

A recent Americans United study of the finances and influence of the Religious Right shows a movement that is very much alive and kicking. Indeed, our research shows that the nation's leading Religious Right organizations took in more than half a billion dollars over a recent 12-month period. Several of the organizations reported dramatic increases in their budgets; only a few showed a drop.

4. Dobson is someone I have grow to despise. Any ideas how we could negatively impact his
empire. I've written him nasty emails 'til I was blue in the face, but we need more. That man is a dangerous psychopath and originator of dangerous advice to parents all over the world. Most humiliatingly of all, he either graduated from or taught at the university I went to, and that humiliates me no end.

I would like shut his trap once and for all.

5. You could start a boycott,
just like they all do, especially that creep Dobson. All you need is a web site, a lot of content that scares the crap out of people, and a big DONATE button. Works for the creeps. They've been doing it for a very long time.

The key is the scary content. It doesn't need to be true, of course, but it has to be scary.

Good headlines are a must:

12 Things James Dobson Won't Tell You!
Jesus Already Returned and You're Stuck Here!
Tony Perkins Is NOT An Actor!

Stuff like that...

6. LOL. Not a bad idea. That's great. There are so many issues to deal with though.
I'm trying to be more positive and less negative, and focusing on Dobson would just make me an angry person. Obama has made me feel happy for the first time in eight years. I want to try to parlay that joy into something positive.

7. Well, I Was Really Just Joking,
of course. There are already anti-Dobson sites out there, mostly dealing with his barbaric suggestions for child-rearing. They're not working, but they're there. The creepy folks who want to beat their children into submission will find support somewhere, I suppose.

Me? I call the cops on 'em.

13. Just quoting Dobson is frightening enough! Ever read his gay-prevention advice for Dad's? ICK!
http://www.dkosopedia.com/wiki/James_Dobson#Shower_controversy

Shower controversy

In his June 2002 Focus on the Family newsletter Dobson endorses advice by Dr. Nicolosi on preventing homosexuality in boys. The advice proposed that fathers take their sons into the shower with them where "the boy cannot help but notice that Dad has a penis, just like his, only bigger". <1>

Better IMo would be to find a group boycotting Dobson's radio show or other projects and spread the word esp. to other groups he has ticked off. Find out what others are doing, join in their activities and if you have a few $ to spare send them to a group that Dobson is against in his honor so he gets sent a thank you card ;)

11. Dobson, along with most of those other old boys,
is part of the ultra-secretive Council for National Policy, #12. Those are the hard right power brokers who successfully lobbied McCain to hang Palin around his neck like a rotting albatross and they're the ones jockeying to become the sole power brokers in the party now that McCain "lost it for Palin."

The best part of all this is that the old guard will be dying off in the next decade and the newcomers never quite have what it takes. Like Franklin Graham, they ramp up the rhetoric and start to marginalize themselves.

Nobody lives forever, not even a power drunk old buzzard like Dobson.
