Tomorrow, my mother, Senator Barbara Boxer, will celebrate her 68th birthday.

Last week's election of Barack Obama as President, as well as expanded Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, sure gave us a huge jumpstart on celebrating her birthday. But now I'm asking you to help deliver another wonderful birthday gift -- your support in her 2010 re-election campaign.

Let's send my mom, Barbara Boxer, a big gift on her 68th birthday: Contribute to our $68,000 grassroots fundraising drive today!

It's hard to believe but I was only 11 years old in 1976 when my mom ran for and won a seat on the Marin County Board of Supervisors, her first elected office. Back then, she ran because she wanted to make sure that children, including her own, would grow up with access to parks and open space and safe communities. Over 30 years later, she's still fighting for the same things -- just on a much larger stage with even larger stakes.

We need Barbara Boxer back in the United States Senate fighting for us. This is why I am asking you today to join me in supporting her re-election.

Even with all her accomplishments, we know that my mom will face a tough election in less than two years, and she needs our help to fend off the right-wing as they prepare to challenge her in 2010. They're not going to let up one bit between now and the next election, and we can't either.

So let's send my mom, Barbara Boxer, a big gift on her 68th birthday: Contribute $6.80, $68, $680, or whatever you can afford today!

My mother is my hero, and I'm so proud of the work she's doing as a three-term U.S. Senator. With your continued support, she will continue the battle she began over 30 years ago, to ensure that my children, her grandkids, and your family will continue to be able to achieve the American dream. Moreover, she'll join side-by-side with President-elect Barack Obama to move this country forward again -- creating jobs, jump-starting our economy, educating our children, stopping global warming, and responsibly ending the war in Iraq.

So please help me celebrate my mom's 68th birthday this week -- and in the process, get her 2010 re-election campaign off to a strong start. We can't afford to lose her voice in the U.S. Senate as she fights alongside President-elect Obama to get America back on track.

You will never know how much the BarbaraBoxer.com online community means to my mom. I can tell you firsthand how much strength she receives knowing you are behind her. Now let's show her how much she means to us.

Thank you so much for your help.

Sincerely,

Doug Boxer

P.S. When you make your online contribution, please include your personal birthday wishes to my mom too. I'll be sending her a card from the entire BarbaraBoxer.com community, and I want to add your message to it. Thanks!
