Bush has to suck up to Obama to keep him from exposing the skeletons he finds in the WH closets
Edited on Mon Nov-10-08 07:45 PM by bigtree

He needs to try and keep Obama from going too hard on him in when the investigations of his corrupt administration are initiated and to try to get Obama to protect him when the Justice Dept. considers the targets of their investigations.

In that case, Obama should just make certain he sets up his Justice Dept. in a way that no stone will be left unturned. He can still express his 'regrets' and 'disappointment' when Bush is hauled before a court, while still maintaining a respectful public relationship with the former president.

The difference in the new administration will be that Obama's Justice Dept. shouldn't be hampered by interference from the White House. His picks for Justice will be the most important if he hopes to reverse the most pernicious of Bush's autocratic initiatives and orders, and, to allow previously obstructed prosecutions and investigations to proceed unfettered.

I'm still anxious to see how shrewd Obama will be about addressing the crimes he uncovers from the past administration. Almost every president who preceded him has behaved like they were part of an old boys club; reflexively and dependably covering their mutual asses. I expect better from Obama. If he assembles a strong Justice Dept. and gets out of their way, he'll do a revolutionary job.

3. I really can't see the Obama administration standing in the way of that
I do think it's important that he hire an uncompromising figure to head Justice.

11. I'm sure he's exposing himself.
He has so many bloody skeletons in his closet, he can't open his fucking mouth without the bones flying out at Obama.

2. I don't think "sucking up" will help
I am counting on Obama to de-politicize the Justice Department and I will be disappointed if he does not. All those Liberty U grads can go "spend more time with their families".

5. I'm really anxious for this
There needs to be a complete overhaul . . . and then, to work to flush the appeals courts of the right's political enablers and protectors.

6. Wouldn't that effort need to be focused on one issue?
. . . at least at it's inception?

8. I think Bush is hoping he's smoothed it over
I'm thinking he's being lulled into complacency by our shrewd legislator from Chicago.

12. Don't hold your breath. Obama will let the neocons walk.
he campaigned for two years, and I never heard him say necons, treason, crooks, liars, corruption, prosecution. imprisonment, at all. He censured speeches at the convention so not to ruffle the feathers of the New World Order. There will be no change. Bushinomics will be maintained.

13. he can still maintain an air of comity
. . . and, at the same time, allow his Justice Dept. to proceed, unfettered, with investigations and prosecutions.

14. The other side of me is hoping that he's...
keeping his cards close to his vest and that underneath the calm is someone willing to drive the ball down the lane in your face for a goal kinda guy. Yet as he surrounds himself with people who have yet mention any of those words I wrote above I doubt anyone from the Bush administration or any of the crooks behind this banking bailout (scam) will ever see a prison cell.
