Oswego woman restrained with duct tape on flight (update)
by The Associated Press Wednesday November 05, 2008, 2:28 PM
Update:

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- An airline crew used duct tape to keep a passenger in her seat because they say she became unruly, fighting flight attendants and grabbing other passengers, forcing the flight to land in North Carolina.

Maria Esther Castillo of Oswego, is due in court Thursday, charged with resisting arrest and interfering with the operations of a flight crew aboard United Airlines Flight 645, from Puerto Rico to Chicago.

Castillo, 45, struck a flight attendant on the buttocks with the back of her hand during Saturday's flight, FBI Special Agent Peter Carricato said in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Charlotte. She also stood and fell onto the head of a blind passenger and later started pulling the person's hair, the complaint stated.

Ankle cuffs kept slipping off Castillo, so the flight crew and two passengers were forced to use duct tape to keep her in her seat, the complaint states. ......(more)

3. That's too bad.....I've never understood why people get tanked when they fly.
I had an obnoxious drunk next to me once, who kept breathing his 150-proof breath directly into my face, telling me all of his personal business and grabbing my arm. It was a 1 1/2-hour flight from New York to Detroit but it felt like a 12-hour flight over the Pacific.

9. While it can definitely lead to other problems ...
... I think the reason a lot of people get drunk when they fly is because they are afraid of flying. Come to think of it that might explain some of the disruptive behavior as well.

11. Boo hoo.........then don't disrupt my life........
I'm sick and tired of all the excuses given to drunks....yes, some people MAY be scared, but get a tranquilizer from the doctor, don't waste other people's time and money.

6. yeah, most of them are assholes BEFORE they drink
Drinking just unhinges them the rest of the way.

My worst pax experience? April Tuna. She sat next to me. Not the actress who played her but a little red-headed eight year old version of her who did not even breathe that I could tell, once, during her recitation of her life since birth over a six hour flight. No, if April Tuna and Pippi Longstocking had an ugly fourth grader love child on crack, that's who this little girl was. She was charming and cute the first hour. The second hour, I was a bit low on interest, and the third hour after she had fully metamorphed into devil-child-crack-baby I was weighing whether brat-icide would be considered a crime of self-defense under the circumstances.

by the end of the flight, I had seriously considered getting her stewed on whiskey screwdrivers or asking my surrounding passengers if they had valiums and xanax and three or four quaaludes I could grind up and slip into her peanuts, or just take myself.

:P

not really of course, she was a kiddo and she was excited and she was crushing on me a little, but it did seem like the flight would never ever end. And if a quaalude had come rolling down between the seats, I would have caught it with my teeth.

8. Why can't my City ever make the news for something positive?
Our Mayor gets arrested in an FBI sting trying to have sex with 15 year old girls.
A week later the FBI busts our Chief of Police for being a Fence.

It must be the winter winds and snow freezing people's brains.
