Tim Robbins vs. Elections Board, Round 2
Edited on Tue Nov-11-08 11:33 AM by OmelasExpat
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/10/tim-robbins-vs-elections-board-round-2/

... The absence of Mr. Robbins’s name from the Poll List Book remained unaddressed until Monday evening, when the Board of Elections released a two-page letter to Mr. Robbins.

The letter, signed by Gregory C. Soumas, the Manhattan Democratic representative on the 10-member elections board, said that Mr. Robbins’s voting problems were, in essence, his own fault. ...

Mr. Robbins also expressed anger at the Board of Elections, saying it should not have sent his public voter registration records to reporters. “I resent that my address has been published and my family’s safety has been compromised by their attempt to explain their ineptitude,” he said.

In sum, from the board’s point of view, Mr. Robbins was at fault for filing a second voter registration card, while from Mr. Robbins’s point of view, the board was at fault for suddenly purging his name from the Poll List Book at the site where he had voted, without any problems, in several previous elections — and where, according to Ms. Williamson, his name appeared as recently as the September primary.

-------

I don't believe it's too tin-foil-hat to suggest that this is a case of harassment against Tim Robbins by some in the Elections Board. Especially considering that they published his private information.

It's the cost of bucking a corrupt system sometimes.

1. When reading the article, it almost sounds like a hoax someone perpertrated on him in 2004

by filing a registration card, under his full name and office address. If that happened, that sucks big time. I hope they compare and show the signatures on both those cards.
