A few words about "all the Palin posts"
Sarah Palin a source of laughs for many of us.

But she is also a source of real worry.

She is the low water mark of American national politics. If anyone can even conceive of this notion, she is it: "Dumber than Bush" and its twin notion, "Worse than Bush".

Along with the Ick factor so many of us get from her, she also has a very real It factor. Make no mistake about her ability to inspire. She showed that very, very clearly. There is no doubt that none on our side are inspired in ways they want people inspired, but inspire she does. And I would bet damned near anything that she could inspire just enough of the people who supported us this time to swing things right a point or two and win a national election. Maybe not today, but if she manages to rehabilitate her image, she could in a year or two.

Our job is to make her more the butt of jokes than ever was Dan Quayle.

Keep stories of her out there.

Laugh at her every chance you get. Hopefully late night comedians and stand up comics will do Palin jokes for years. Make no mistake but that Tina Fey actually had a measurable impact on this election's outcome. And Tina has made it okay to crack Palin jokes to even the most reactionary right winger you can imagine. After all, Palin jokes are mainstream.

Thank you, Tina. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Once cast as a joke, it is very difficult for a serious politician to overcome that. Particularly one as off center and tragicomically iconic as Palin. She takes herself very seriously and as she does, her light weight looks even lighter.

Embrace the Sarah we've all come to know and love.

And never let go.

Or she **will** be back.

1. Thanks, H2S
As a concession to the "no more Palin" folks, I've decided to only use her initials in subject lines so that people's eyes won't be offended by her name unless they take the next step and click on the post. :)

3. Quayle is the perfect match for Palin.
I think I'm in favor of a Palin-Quayle ticket in 2012. In fact, I can say that I'm very enthusiastic about a Palin-Quayle ticket in 2012. They should definitely run together and have lots of unscripted press conferences. I would give money to see that.

5. She is the perfect front doofus for the whole PNAC-tionary agenda.
Her 'narrative' is even better than GWB.

She's not a rich kid. She's 'common folk'.

A super dangerous package.

I believe making her into a perennial joke is the way to deal with it. Though there will be some people who will feel sorry for her. I hope not enough people to make a difference.

In the post-rational world will we ever talk about issues ever again?

6. I agree with almost everything in the OP
except that I don't necessarily agree that palin represents the low water mark in american national poltics. I regard her as being in a tie with Spiro Agnew as far as national candidates go, and, frankly, I have trouble putting anyone below Richard Nixon in my pantheon of low lifes in American politics.

9. And since the specific low water mark is a distinction without a difference, we have full agreement!

12. I have no trouble putting at least two as "lower life" than Nixon...
Bush and Cheney, of course, not to mention Rove... they just haven't gotten proper justice yet as Nixon did. :yoiks:

10. I agree.
She is the product of the American Idle-minded culture. Just as Reagan became a para-serious politician, who did extreme damage to our country, Palin's current backers have a long-term agenda to have her front for them. Far, far wiser to make her into an extended joke, than to have our Constitutional democracy become the butt of their joke.

13. Agree, as much as I dislike her
The more she's out there for all the world to see, the more she makes a fool of herself.

I believe that Chevy Chase's SNL portrayals of Gerald Ford as a head-bumpin' buffoon helped to do in ol' Jerry.

May it be the same for Caribou Barbie.

14. Why have none of the so called "Reporters" asked this
Bafoon why her husband needed silk underwear? Yeah, it is a trivial matter but it gets to
the point that she has lied about the clothes biz for her & her family.
