Shares of General Motors Corp. fell below $3 a share in morning trading, one day after analysts said the company appeared headed for bankruptcy or a bankruptcy-like situation without a federal bailout.

GM stock was trading down 57 cents mid-morning, down 16.96% for the day, at $2.79.

A year ago today, GM closed at $33.15 per share.
