It isn't just about politics. It's also about a strange kind of friendship on DU.

The philosophers of the 18th century wrote long letters. It is a wonderful way to develop ideas and learn. We are so lucky to live in a time in which we can exchange our ideas almost instantaneously. I love DU because of the level of discourse I find here.

7. I Don't Know How To Break The Addiction. But DU'ers May Break It For Me.

Some have become so blatantly stupid here with their zealotry, ignorance and closed mindedness, that if their numbers keep growing it may be such a turn off to even be here that many, including myself, will start seeing their addiction become less and less, due to the level of sheer stupidity that would end up running rampant.

Hopefully though, the true thinkers win out and it won't become an issue. :)

11. I've been here at least in lurker form since 2002, when the run-up to Iraq

had me saying, "Oh, this is a bad, bad idea...why doesn't anyone else see it?" Then I found a place of people who DID see it, and never left. I doubt I'll be going anywhere anytime soon.
