Elisabeth Hasselbeck to Joy Behar: "It is not our day to gripe about the cost" of the Iraq war
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/11/joy-and-elisabeth-spar-ov_n_143028.html

Tuesday on "The View" Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck sparred over how to recognize Veterans Day. Behar began the show by reading facts about the war, over 4,000 American soldiers dead, the immense cost, etc.

Elisabeth was not happy and round one broke out, with Elisabeth forcefully telling Joy, "Do not complain about the war today."

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg briefly interjected, but was overpowered by Joy and Elisabeth. Elisabeth got angrier insisting, "It is not our day to gripe about the cost" while Joy argued, "We are honoring them by discussing this war."

Elisabeth then threw out her trump card, saying she knew people fighting in the war and knew they would not want the ladies talking war cost. Then, before Joy could respond, Whoopi cut the whole thing off for good, "We're moving on!"

11. I wish Joy would ask her and that Whoopie wouldn't step in to make
her feel better when she has no answer.

Oh, wait, what am I saying? There actually is a standard rw talking-point answer for that. I forget it now, but Elizabeth will know it by heart.

3. Yes, let us not be unseemly
After all, we have these dandy little wars the Bush administration lied us into, and looking at the price tag is just so déclassé, n'est-ce pas? Let's have another round of tax cuts for the war profiteers and screw another generation of poor Americans by piling the cost of another four years on them. They're pretty deprived as it is, so they won't mind, right Elisabeth?

6. freedom
Elizabeth was upset that Joy was telling the truth about the war but wouldn't allow "free speech" in discussing it and in the next breath she's going on about them (military) fighting for our freedoms - she's such a cartoon !!!

17. Repubs are like extremely dysfunctional families - a lot of things are NOT DISCUSSED.
That's their idea of love/kindness/goodness: don't talk about things that make you have a bad feeling.

take on this subject:

Channing opposed the War of 1812. He vigorously defended the right to criticize the war, saying a republican government secures its citizens' right to vote and to discuss their rulers. "Freedom of opinion, of speech, and of the press is our most valuable privilege, the very soul of republican institutions, the safeguard of all other rights." If the cry of war meant "all opposition should therefore be hushed," there would be no impediment to "war without end."

And this from a Christian... heads up, Elizabeth...

16.  Military spouses talk about the "cost" all the time
Now, we don't all agree on what that "cost" is buying ...but talk about it we do and ALL the time.

Twitshit is full of shit.
