Just a bunch of "losers" ...

Lost years from their lives.
Lost "sweet dreams."
Lost homes.
Lost jobs.
Lost health care insurance.

Yup. Losers.

Just one question...

Who "wins"???

Happy VD!

1. Some of those guys have been there since the 60s
"Thanks for your service."

"Get a job, loser."

"Pull yourself up by your bootstraps."

2. I just got done talking to a buddy I served with both stateside and in Nam.
I called him ... after losing contact with him for about 35 years. Found him on the web. He's an exec with a fund management company in Austin, Texas. We were both stationed at Fort Sam in San Antonio in 1968 ... where he met his (first) wife and I stood up at their wedding in Houston. He was at Bien Hoa (Repo Depot) when I got stationed at Long Binh (next door) in 1969. Afterwards, I'd visited him at IU in Bloomington and later in Columbus. Then we lost contact.

He's a somewhat fundamentalist Christian.
He's a conservative.
He's a Republican born and raised in rural Indiana.
He's also one of the kindest, truest friends I've ever had.

He's one of the people in this world that I'd stand by no matter what.
Unconditional.
Some things transcend politics.

I'd take his six and he'd take mine.
We did, actually.

It was good. Thirty-five years ... and we're still close.

Ya had to be there.

3. I'm in daily contact with my Army buddies. We are in a unique
situation, we cannot talk shop, but we had a very colorful off duty life there.
