3. I might be going to Chicago.
I have to contact some people in Chicago to see about transportation and arrangements. I live about 140 miles from Chicago, but I feel strongly about this.

We have some scheduled in the Inland Empire later on in the month; but, this Saturday, I'll see you there!

2. I find it odd....
That when people talk about Prop 8 they seldom, if ever, mention the other anti-gay propositions that passed.

6. Eh?
I do not consider myself a monitor of speech in any capacity. But there were 3 or 4 anti-gay propositions that passed and everyone acts like Prop 8 was the only important one. I'm sure the others had an impact on the people who live in those states. I know how I felt when they passed it in Wisconsin.

I apologize if you think I'm being harsh to anyone, that's not the case.

14. CA is different than all the others (except Arkansas)
in that marriage was already legal and happening and they took it away - in the other states its never been legal - so in the case of California it was shocking that people would take away a right that is already allowed.

Arkansas took away the right to adopt - which is beyond sickening.

I think the most important thing to remember is Prop 8 is the most visible because it was first and it effect the largest population (up until a month ago Massachusetts would no marry out of state couples, so everyone was coming to California).

5. I think this one was the most shocking.
We expect California to know better.

7. You are correct...
I guess I'd just hope that a nationwide protest would also include the other propositions past, present, and future.

8. Excellent suggestion.
If I go, I will mention it to the people there. We need to fight hate in every state.

10. agreed
They did it to us in Oregon. Many had already gotten married, and the state annulled them. No one noticed. We do expect better of Cali, and it's a huge state. It is also an abrupt reversal of a high profile triumph of gay marriage that had been taken as a bellweather of change in the other direction. I agree that a national protest should look at the whole nation-and it's time our strategists did the same.
This "one state at a time" thing is not getting the job done.
