Florida flurries are act of charity

PORT RICHEY - Many Floridians live here because they hate snow. But not 7-year-old Alex Gualemi.

"I love snow," he explained.

Alex has never even seen snow, so he and his family were prepared to fly to Colorado to see the white stuff -- Alex's dying wish. He is fighting cancer, and family friends say his prognosis is grim.

"They were ready to go out west when Alex's health took a bad turn," according to friend Vicky Doucette.

So Doucette deciding to bring the snow to Alex. She contacted Gary Sanders from All Star Ice in Brevard County. He agreed to truck 10 tons of ice across the state with a snowmaking machine in tow.

Tuesday afternoon, he covered Alex's front yard with snow.

there were a bunch of other kids there. It accumulated pretty well, like an inch or two on the ground.
