Just talked to my FIL in Arkansas |
|
I'm telling you all ... his accent is so thick lol
Anyway, they all voted for Obama, but they called us today to tell us how sad they were about the "gay thing" as they referred to it. Had to let him go as he was off to clean one of his guns or something lol
How this liberal Canadian got mixed up with a redneck family in Arkansas blows my mind, but I love them.

1. They sound like my kind of rednecks. |

Trust me, the country is full of rednecks whose hearts are in the right places, who would be making much better decisions if they weren't being lied to 24/7 from the pulpit and the mass media.
I'll take those rednecks any damn day over the subtle racists, sexists, homophobes, and general America haters in board rooms.

they stopped going to church a few years ago and I think my relationship with their daughter softened them to a lot of issues that they had not even considered thinking about before
They are excited about Obama ... and we're talking about a Vietnam Vet who thought that Bush was the tough guy the US needed ... at least until a couple of years ago.
It's been a long ride, but to know that 7 years after meeting their daughter and bringing here to Canada with me, that they keep bugging us about grandchildren is just so freaking amazing I don't know how to describe it
