5. It'll be fun for us to watch all those wackos bounce off of each other. McCain was their last best
chance. They're going to destroy themselves with this ~why can't we find another Bush?~ hope.

6. Watch out for the LDS church and the Mittster. They will make a major try at a comeback. If they
get the Christian fundy's to help them, they will be a formidable force.

7. Agreed. I hope not to see the Xtian fundies helping the Cult of Smith, but many of them have shown
such a despicable lack of integrity already that I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see them twist their dogma in order to gain power. That said, it shouldn't be too hard to get them to turn on each other...

y?

9. The Candidates!
Mitt Romney - half-decent man, former governor of Massachusetts, the last guy to nearly unseat Ted Kennedy (in 1994). By all accounts the best of the bunch, but a tax-raiser and worse, a Mormon. The Christian righties won't support, the fiscal conservatives won't support. SCREWED.

Mike Huckabee - Christian Conservative, ordained minister, a real supporter of both better services and Christian Conservatism. Tax raising makes him hard for fiscal conservatives to support. The darling of the Christian right, at least before Palin came along. Set free a convicted rapist (who Bill Clinton had put away) who raped and murdered another woman. REALLY SCREWED.

Sarah Palin - Very conservative governor of Alaska, self-described hockey mom. Fights like hell for her state against the oil companies, but that is about it for good things to say. Dumb as a brick, ignorant on some issues. Absolute flagbearer for the Christian Right, but is also somewhat acceptable to fiscal conservatives. National Review editors have a hard time keeping their hand out of their pants about her. Really, really stupid though. EXTREMELY SCREWED.

Piyush "Bobby" Jindal - First Indian American Governor. Young for political figures. Big-time Christian Conservative. Competent governor of Louisiana. One of the members of Bush's cabinet who ditched him in or after his first term (along with Mitch Daniels, Colin Powell, Christine Todd Wittman and others). Fought to eliminate limits on off-shore drilling, anti-abortion, anti-gay rights, anti-stem cell research, voted to make Patriot Act permanent. You can see where this is going. LOST CAUSE.

Rudy Giuliani - Italian from Brooklyn. Former mob-busting New York District Attorney and crime-busting Mayor of New York City. Somewhat willing to change opinions (changed opinion on healthcare issues after he had cancer), has gotten way too much press out of 9/11, proven to be a terrible campaigner. His law firm set itself up to file lawsuits against banks being bailed out for his own profit. Vulture who has little else other than 9/11 to run on. TRULY A LOST CAUSE.

11. And it also be a Dem blowout
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 01:44 AM by StreetKnowledge
Considering Palin's incompetence, stupidity and arrogance, and Romney's lying, irritating voice and flip-flopping, not to mention the Christian right hating the VP choice (LDS and Robertson's merry band of lunatics will probably end up shooting at each other at this rate) and fiscal conservatives not liking either, they'll be screwed before the likes of Keith Olbermann get their hands on them.

538 Electoral votes, anybody? :D

15. Don't underestimate the power of the LDS church. They have money. But it will come down to
who can win over the large population of republican gullibles. They carry the votes.

18. Except when they're bashing gays, fundies hate Mormons.
Romney will take a beating in any state with a large fundie and small Mormon population, particularly the South.

19. Romney will get traditional Republicans and Mormons. Palin will get fundies and racists.
Obviously, there's more fundies and racists, so Palin wins.
