Question regarding Dean's departure.
Anyone know why he left?

Is he being offered a place in Obama's administration?

1. I think it's traditional for the Pres to appoint the head of the DNC
I vote for Dean for Sec'y of HHS. Whoo hoooo!

2. He has always said that he would only serve one term as Chairman...
I haven't heard of any offers for him from Obama.

If I were the President Elect, he could
NAME HIS POSITION.

Anything he wants, he's got it, as far
as I'm concerned.

I hope he takes a well earned vacation and
then lets us know where to concentrate our
efforts to strengthen the party until it
resembles a group that actually represents us.

4. Obama started his run two years before he won.
I really believe Dean's 50-state strategy was instrumental in that.

We're looking at another election in two years in 2010. Can we still hold our momentum without the 50-state strategy?

5. Why do you think the Dems will guve up the 50 state strat?
Obama ran HIS campaign on a 50 state strat, and I think all the Dems realize NOW that it's a winning one!

7. I hope we don't! But without Dean, will it continue?
I'm not saying it will fall apart the minute he leaves, but I believe his stature as one of the first to use the power of the internets as well as his experience as a governor put weight behind his chairmanship.

I just hope whoever replaces him won't get steamrolled by Dean's enemies.

I guess I'm sorry to see him go.

10. OH, I'm sorry to see him go too! I'm REALLY hoping that he is given
a prominent place in President Obama's admin!

6. Obama's campaign reflected his background as a community organizer.
Dean was a side note to that at best. Yes, its good to build up the party in every state but crediting Dean for Obama's victory is a little ridiculous.

8. Well, he was a big part of it. Not the ONLY part, but you can't deny he had a part. n/t

12. In what way?
Obama didn't have the support of state party organizations in the primary and he had his own organization in the general. How did Dean putting one person in Alabama help Obama win the presidency? Obama had his own campaign strategy and organization and it had nothing to do with Dean. I appreciate the 50 state strategy but Obama's campaign would have been just the same without it.

13. The more the merrier, I guess.
I really don't want to fight about this.

Perhaps what Dean's 50-state strategy did was that it didn't contradict Obama's plan.

How's that?

3. I read earlier this week (probably here) that he had said he
was only going to give it one term. I would think and hope that the good Doctor will have another role to play for President Obama. He has laid the groundwork for someone else to take over there.

9. He ran for President...
then he turned his focus to getting Kerry elected. He has been on the road for some time. Speaking as someone who attended one of Dean's rallies getting Bush out of ofice was his goal.
