My XM Radio as I knew it, is gone..
Woke up today to a whole new format. Looks like mostly Sirius to me. This is going to take some getting use to.

167, 150, 151, 64, 227.

So, has the merger led to higher prices yet?

Although the song choice sucks on the FR channels, I like to listen to them :)

I'm not buying the Sirius add-ons, really not interested in Howard Stern asking every female guest if she is into anal, I did not miss him when he left FM.

I listen at my office most all day, except when I'm talking on the phone. I alternate between CNN, 70's channel, Audio Visions, The Loft (which has changed too I guess), and sometimes the Blues channel.

9. And Plenty More Changes On The Way
Yep...it is Sirius...part of the merger that happened earlier this year. An effort to take two failing companies and make one larger failing one. While I don't own a satellite radio (Internet is the way to go), I have been following the change-over and have friends "in the biz"...and I'm hearing that many more changes are on the way. In essence, most the original programming will drift away and it'll be nothing but a relay of over-the-air stations or "jukebox" music formats...non-stop tunes from a hard-drive.

The new company was formed with a ton of existing debt hanging over their heads and this was before the market crash. Since then stock prices have tanked and the hole has gotten deeper. It'll be interesting to see how this system survives in the next couple years.

14. I got a few new stations that I've been wanting from Sirius such as . . .
The Grateful Dead channel and Jam Central (what can I say, I'm a deadhead at heart and always will be).

I still have my America Left/Air America (whatever it's called these days) so I still get my talk radio I enjoy, but I now get music stations I'll actually listen to regularly.

I haven't noticed anything yet that I'll miss to be honest.

22. XM knocked off two of my favorites a long ago ....
A Latin jazz and an Afropop station.

Many of the stations I listen to are the same spot in the new line-up, though the classical stations have been moved.

I never understood the difference between their various rock formats in the old days. Maybe this will be an improvement.

Wow. Lucy was the best 90's alternative rock channel I have ever listened to. A coworker that had Sirius used to be jealous when I would listen to it at work. He didn't like what Sirius offered for that genre. I guess I'll have to hope that I like the new channel. At least America Left/AA is still there.

63. Little Steven also programs Underground Garage, which is British Invasion-style music
from all decades. I'm likin' it. They're going to have the "Breakfast with the Beatles" show every Sunday morning, and as a Clevelander, for me being able to listen to DJ Kid Leo again in the afternoons is like a step back in a time machine!

40. Sorry to hear it but I am wondering how it affects us on Sirius as well...
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 10:06 AM by DangerousRhythm
I did get an email and the highlight of it for me was this:

:D

I listen to one of these shows every Saturday night on my local AM radio station here in Houston, 950, Radio Mojo... normally an awful channel except for Phil Hendrie, the occasional radio drama at midnight on the weekend and "Keep Hope Alive" on Sunday mornings at 7am. It'll be good to have the ability to tune in whenever I like. Listening to American Top 40 from that era is like being thrown into a time warp. I do wonder, is that an XM station or just a retooling of the Sirius 70s station?

Here is the Sirius lineup for anyone who didn't get their email yet:
